Sartori Cheese, a fourth-generation family-run artisanal business, has proudly acquired Rumiano Cheese, another esteemed US company.

While the financial specifics of this agreement remain undisclosed, the impact is expected to be significant.

Founded in 1919, Rumiano Cheese, based in California, is renowned for its pasture-raised organic cheese and butter creations. These quality products are distributed across all 50 US states, as well as in Mexico and Asia.

In a statement, owner Baird Rumiano emphasized, “As a fellow family-owned business, Sartori shares our core values and commitment to quality, tradition, and responsible stewardship.”

He further noted, “We’re confident this next step in our journey will bring many exciting opportunities to our team, our local farmers, our customers, and to the communities we’ve proudly served for generations.”

Wisconsin-based Sartori Cheese characterized the acquisition as “strategic,” highlighting the unification of “two heritage brands” that share a “passion” for crafting “exceptional” cheese.

According to Sartori, this acquisition is expected to “enhance” its product range and “expand” its market presence.

Sartori Cheese CEO Bert Sartori expressed, “We look forward to building upon Rumiano’s commitment to their Redwood Coast family farm partners and local community.”

He added, “Rumiano’s dedication to excellence and innovation makes them a perfect fit for our company.”

As part of the deal, Sartori confirmed that the cheesemaking division in Crescent City, California, will remain intact.

However, it is important to note that Masters Gallery Foods, a supplier of cheese for private-label retail and foodservice, has acquired Rumiano’s converting and distribution facilities located in Willows, California.

In a separate statement, Jeff Gentine, Masters Gallery Foods president and CEO, stated, “We are committed to advancing the Willows operation, as originally envisioned by the Rumiano family, and building upon the legacy of what has been established here since 1919.”

He concluded, “Our goal is to use this facility as a platform for Western growth, while positively impacting the city of Willows and the nearly 200 employees we now welcome into the Masters Gallery family.”
