Drawing on the Tata legacy established in 1868, Tata Consumer Products presents 1868 by Tata Tea – Crafted for Connoisseurs, a premium tea collection that celebrates India’s tea heritage through three distinctive blends, refined craftsmanship and layered flavour.

October 2026: Tata Consumer Products has announced the launch of 1868 by Tata Tea – Crafted for Connoisseurs, a luxury tea range developed for discerning consumers seeking a more considered and immersive tea experience.

Tea is part of the daily routine for millions of Indians. However, the breadth of flavour, skill and regional character found across India’s tea landscape is not always fully explored. 1868 by Tata Tea aims to open up that discovery, encouraging consumers to take their time, appreciate nuanced flavours and view tea as an experience rather than simply an everyday beverage.

The collection is guided by three central ideas: Origin. Craft. Experience.

Origin reflects the use of carefully chosen teas sourced from some of India’s most renowned tea-producing regions.

Craft is expressed through generations of tea expertise, considered blending techniques and the use of select ingredients.

Experience brings these elements together in the cup, creating a sensory journey defined by aroma, taste, texture and the enjoyment of taking a moment to savour it.

The name 1868 refers to the year in which Jamsetji Tata established the Tata Group. Built on more than 150 years of trust, quality and excellence, 1868 by Tata Tea translates this enduring heritage into a modern interpretation of Indian tea luxury.

The first 1868 by Tata Tea – Crafted for Connoisseurs collection features three individual tea experiences:

1868 by Tata Tea Masala Chai pairs premium-grade tea with real spices, delivering a full-bodied, aromatic and indulgent brew.

1868 by Tata Tea Cream of Assam is made with Assam tea and selected golden tips, which contribute richness, depth and distinctive character.

1868 by Tata Tea Gourmet Street Chai blends handpicked Assam tea with real ginger and cardamom, capturing the recognisable taste and spirit of India’s vibrant chai culture.

Sharat Verma, President – Packaged Beverages and Organic India, Tata Consumer Products, said:

“India has one of the richest tea cultures in the world, but we rarely stop to discover just how extraordinary tea can be. With 1868 by Tata Tea, we want to change that. From distinctive origins and golden-tipped Assam teas to blends crafted with real spices, every tea has been created to offer an experience worth slowing down for. 1868 is our invitation to rediscover something deeply familiar – and experience it in an entirely new way.”

1868 by Tata Tea is intended for consumers who seek more than a routine cup and are eager to explore the character and craft behind every tea.
