Foyle Food Group is investing £15 million in its Omagh facility to install advanced technology and automation. The programme will enhance the way the business processes, packs and distributes its products, supporting wider food manufacturing trends and the adoption of modern food processing technology.

Established in 1977, Foyle produces premium beef for customers throughout Britain and Ireland. The investment is designed to strengthen quality and consistency, lower energy use and expand the company’s ability to serve international markets. It also reflects the growing importance of food and drink sustainability, efficient food and drink packaging and evolving food distribution trends.

Terry Acheson, CEO of Foyle Food Group, described the project as “an important step in the continued evolution” of the company’s Omagh operations.

“As one of the largest dedicated beef processors in GB and Ireland, it will allow us to invest in new technology and equipment, helping us improve efficiency, maintain high standards of product quality and better meet the needs of our customers” he added.

Alongside improvements to the site, the investment will develop future leaders within the organisation and create seven additional positions. Invest NI is contributing £2.9 million to the project, following a 30-year relationship with Foyle Food Group.

“Invest NI’s support has been instrumental in helping us to accelerate these plans,” Acheson continued. “With its support, we’re also able to invest in our people by developing our Foyle Futures programme and wider skills development to build leadership, technical and operational skills. This, coupled with the seven new jobs being created across our Omagh facility, will be vital to our business as we continue to grow and adapt.”

The programme supports food and drink industry innovation while helping Foyle respond to changing food and drink regulations, food and drink consumer trends and expectations across food and drink marketing.

Gráinne Moody, director of food and drink at Invest NI, said: “This investment is a strong vote of confidence in Foyle Food Group’s future and in the continued strength of Northern Ireland’s agri-food sector.

“We’ve been working with Foyle Food Group for the last three decades to help its business grow. It’s great to now support it further with such a significant investment in both its productivity and its people so that it can strengthen its long-term competitiveness from its Omagh base.”

The announcement follows a positive financial year for the beef processor. Profit after tax increased from £10.7 million to £15.6 million in 2025, providing further momentum for the company’s expansion and operational development.
