Kudos Blends, a global baking powder supplier specializing in tailored baking solutions, has recently invested in a MIWE condo oven provided by EPP. This new oven replaces their previous one at their test bakery in Cleobury Mortimer, enabling them to conduct more precise internal product analysis and perform trials for their valued customers.
One of the main reasons for acquiring this new oven, as stated by Stephanie Morrison, senior bakery technologist at Kudos Blends, is the need for consistent and accurate product analysis. She explains, “Because we analyze products and we require very precise figures, we needed a top-quality oven that would consistently produce reliable results. Our previous oven had developed hotspots, which were causing issues and making our analysis unreliable.”
The decision to invest in the MIWE condo oven from EPP was influenced by a fortuitous encounter with Michael Lomas, a representative from EPP, at a bakery event. Lomas recommended that the Kudos Blends team visit the Puratos Innovation Centre to witness the MIWE oven in action and carry out a few tests. Yvette Taylor, head of sales and marketing, recalls the experience, “We met Michael at a bakery event, and he suggested we visit the Puratos Innovation Centre. That visit and the subsequent tests convinced us that the MIWE oven was the right choice for us.”
Kudos Blends supplies baking powder to industrial bakeries globally for a wide range of products, including cakes, doughnuts, muffins, cupcakes, scones, crumpets, pancakes, and tortillas. Their test bakery plays a crucial role in the analysis of their baking powders and conducting trials on behalf of customers, such as troubleshooting issues or experimenting with new bakes. After thorough considerations and testing, Kudos Blends opted for a MIWE condo oven with four decks.
Stephanie Morrison reports that the investment in the new oven has proven highly successful, stating, “We are extremely pleased with the MIWE condo oven since we made the investment. We have tested various products in the oven and have observed consistent results across all decks. It is far superior to our previous oven, which necessitated using the same deck repeatedly for consistent testing. With the MIWE oven, we now have multiple reliable decks, allowing us to bake several batches simultaneously, significantly improving our efficiency. Additionally, it heats up much faster and saves a substantial amount of energy. EPP has been readily available and helpful, providing prompt email and phone support. They installed the oven, addressed our queries, and guided us through its operation.”
