Quorn, a renowned meat-free brand, has expanded its popular frozen range with two new affordable options that incorporate cutting-edge technology, enhancing accessibility and inclusivity for blind and visually impaired shoppers.
By being the first meat-free brand to embrace NaviLens technology, Quorn is introducing the tech to 42 of its products over the next year. These latest additions mark the beginning of that rollout.
The new Quorn products hitting supermarket shelves are as follows:
– Quorn Tomato & Mozzarella Escalopes, made using Quorn mycoprotein.
– Quorn Mini Vegan Sausage Rolls – a delightful combination of a meat-free Quorn Vegan Sausage Roll wrapped in pastry.
What sets these two products apart is the specially designed NaviLens barcodes, a remarkable development that enables shoppers to access crucial product information and nutritional details from a distance of up to 12 times greater than standard QR codes.
Marketing Director Gill Riley, representing Quorn Foods UK, expresses their commitment to enhancing accessibility: “We aim to make our products widely accessible so that everyone can enjoy more meat-free options. Integrating NaviLens technology is a significant stride in our journey to offer a more inclusive and seamless shopping experience for the visually impaired. We are thrilled to be the first meat-free brand to implement this innovation.”
Marc Powell, Head of Accessibility Innovation at the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), appreciates Quorn’s initiative: “We are delighted about Quorn’s adoption of NaviLens technology on their product packaging. This is a positive move toward making products more accessible for individuals with blindness or low vision, ensuring they have the same access and choices as sighted individuals.”
He continues, “Quorn is the pioneering vegetarian food brand to introduce this technology, and we are pleased that it will bring heightened options and independence to people living with sight loss.”
Overall, Quorn’s commitment to incorporating NaviLens technology into its frozen range sets a new standard for inclusivity in the industry, opening up a world of possibilities for visually impaired shoppers.
