Alfonso Gonzalez Loeschen will assume the position of Nespresso CEO and join the group executive board this November.
In this new role, he will transition from his current position as Nespresso’s North America lead, a position he has excelled in since January 2020.
During his tenure as CEO of Nespresso’s North American operations—which span the US, Canada, and Mexico—Loeschen effectively drove the expansion of the Nespresso Vertuo system, achieving double-digit growth and increasing market share.
Loeschen boasts a remarkable career at Nestlé that spans 30 years, beginning in 1992 as an assistant manager. Over the years, he has held various leadership roles across diverse locations, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the US. His prior positions encompass the vice president of marketing for the beverage division of Nestlé USA, general manager for Nestlé in Puerto Rico, and Nespresso’s chief marketing officer.
This appointment follows the recent leadership change initiated by Philipp Navratil, who became CEO after Laurent Freixe was dismissed for violating company conduct codes. Navratil, who previously held the interim CEO role at Nespresso since July 2024, received a promotion earlier this month.
This leadership transition was quickly followed by Nestlé’s board announcing the departure of Paul Bulcke as chairman.
According to the Financial Times, this executive shuffle prompted Nestlé investors to demand Bulcke’s resignation over concerns regarding instability and subpar performance.
“We are happy to announce that Alfonso will become the new CEO of Nespresso and a member of the group executive board. We look forward to working with him to advance our growth strategy for Nespresso,” commented Philipp Navratil, CEO of Nestlé.
“His extensive expertise and deep understanding of the portioned coffee category, along with Alfonso’s results-focused approach and talent to inspire teams, will enable him to drive performance and execution.”
