Wincanton recently announced the renewal of its partnership with Whittard of Chelsea, a prominent tea and coffee retailer.

Since they began their collaboration in 2012, Wincanton has managed both business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) fulfilment operations for Whittard. The renewed contract will enable Wincanton to continue these initiatives from its e-fulfilment centre, DC7, located in Northampton.

For Whittard’s B2C operations, Wincanton will persist in handling online order fulfilment for customers within the UK and international markets. This includes responsibilities such as storage, picking and packing, and multi-carrier delivery services.

Additionally, in the B2B sector, Wincanton will oversee stock distribution to Whittard’s UK stores, as well as e-commerce fulfilment and international wholesale partners. This ensures that store shelves are reliably restocked throughout the year.

The new contract also encompasses a variety of specialized services. These include managing certification requirements for international shipping and offering personalization options, such as bespoke product blending, gift wrapping, and personalized gift messages.

By renewing this contract, Whittard aims to leverage Wincanton’s capabilities to support its ongoing growth within both the UK and international markets, spanning e-commerce and physical retail.

Tom Baker, Whittard’s CFO, stated, “As Whittard continues its strong growth in the UK and globally, it is key to have reliable logistics partners that can scale with us, and we are pleased to continue our partnership with Wincanton.”

Wincanton emphasized that the partnership has resulted in strong operational performance, boasting an impressive 99.99% picking accuracy and 99.5% accuracy for outbound e-commerce orders this year.

Carl Moore, Managing Director of e-fulfilment at Wincanton, remarked, “Whittard is a truly iconic British brand, and we’re proud to continue supporting their growth in the UK and beyond. This contract renewal reflects the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to innovation and an exceptional customer experience.”

He added, “As Whittard looks to expand its retail footprint, our logistics expertise and scalable fulfilment solutions will continue to play a vital role in enabling their success.”
