Parkside Teams Up with Vegums to Promote Sustainable Health Solutions

Parkside leverages its expertise in compostable packaging to assist the vegan nutrition brand Vegums by introducing a new flexible pouch for multivitamin gummies.

This innovative solution utilizes film provided by Futamura, and is TÜV certified as home compostable. This means it breaks down in just 26 weeks in a domestic compost heap and within 12 weeks in an industrial composting facility. The new pouch empowers Vegums to significantly reduce packaging material, replacing the previous flow wrap pack contained within a cartonboard tube. By eliminating the rigid tube, Vegums has effectively lowered weight, a critical advantage for their successful subscription service as well as traditional eCommerce and retail channels.

The compostable paper pouch features an advanced water-based barrier coating that safeguards product freshness, thereby enhancing the overall consumer experience.

Staci Bye, Sales Account Manager at Parkside, stated, “Consumers are increasingly prioritizing their health – but they’re also concerned about the health of the planet. Our high-performance compostable packaging delivers a true cradle-to-cradle solution that doesn’t compromise performance for sensitive nutrition applications.”

“Collaborating with Vegums has been an excellent experience, as their team maintains a clear vision of their identity as a provider of clean-label, responsibly-produced, plant-based products. We appreciate their trust in us to deliver a solution that aligns with this crucial vision.”

In addition, John Rushton, Co-Founder and CEO of Vegums, remarked, “Working with Parkside on this project has been fantastic – their expertise in compostable packaging has facilitated a significant reduction in material usage without compromising quality or customer experience. Staci and the Parkside team have been great partners throughout the process: responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in advancing our sustainability goals.”

This new collaboration positions Parkside as a premier supplier in the nutrition market, which is increasingly seeking packaging solutions that promote both consumer health and environmental sustainability.
