Planted has officially launched its first plant-based steak at Tesco, delivering a steakhouse-quality experience directly to UK consumers.
Following a successful debut and overwhelming demand in both European foodservice and retail, planted.steak is now available in Tesco stores across the nation.
Constructed from a blend of soya protein, bean and rice flour, rapeseed oil, and a unique mix of microbial cultures, planted steak offers a premium, high-protein, high-fibre product. It packs essential nutrients, including vitamin B12 and iron. Thanks to an innovative fermentation process, it also boasts an authentic umami flavor, establishing a new benchmark for large plant-based cuts in the retail market.
In addition to this launch, Planted is strategically investing in capacity expansion with a new production facility set to open in southern Germany by the end of April. This facility will utilize fermentation technology and position itself as the most advanced production site for plant-based meat in Europe.
At the core of Planted’s mission lies not only consumer health but also sustainability. The planted.steak produces 97% less CO2 and requires 81% less water compared to traditional beef, aligning perfectly with the growing consumer demand for environmentally responsible products. Moreover, low in saturated fats, it caters to flexitarians, committed plant-based eaters, and meat lovers seeking an eco-friendly alternative without sacrificing taste or texture.

The recommended retail price for planted.steak is £4.
