SlimFast is expanding its focus beyond conventional weight management, as its new owner, Supreme, commits £5 million towards a functional nutrition strategy aimed at addressing a broader spectrum of health and wellness concerns among consumers.

The brand is experiencing a considerable transformation, evolving from its origins as a weight management label to a more comprehensive functional nutrition platform. This change is driven by the increasing demand for convenient products that enhance everyday health, reflecting a shift in consumer preferences.

Following Supreme’s acquisition of SlimFast in October 2025, the £5 million investment will support marketing initiatives, product development, and the expansion of SlimFast’s nutritional offerings.

While the well-known 3-2-1 weight management plan will continue to be a key component of SlimFast’s identity, the brand is now concentrating on a wider array of nutritional objectives. These include enhancing protein consumption, promoting digestive wellness, ensuring adequate hydration, supporting recovery, maintaining muscle health, and facilitating healthy aging.

This strategic shift mirrors broader trends in the functional nutrition sector, where products historically linked to specialized sports nutrition or weight management are being marketed to everyday consumers.

For SlimFast, this means broadening its focus to serve various consumer health journeys, moving beyond a singular aim centered solely on weight loss.

From mid-August, seven new products will debut in major retail outlets and on Amazon. The lineup features Protein Plus + Fibre in raspberry ripple and caramel cookie flavors, along with Collagen + Creatine, Clear Collagen Protein, Creatine Hydration, Daily Boost Fibre, and Glucomannan Weight Management Capsules, with retail prices ranging from £8.99 to £12.99.

Additionally, the strategy acknowledges the rising impact of GLP-1 weight-loss medications on the nutrition landscape. According to SlimFast’s data, the usage of GLP-1 in the UK has nearly tripled in two years, with around 6.3% of households—approximately 1.9 million—reporting at least one GLP-1 user, compared to 2.4% in 2024.

An additional 3.3 million individuals are contemplating weight-loss medication, and the global GLP-1 market is anticipated to reach $190 billion by 2035.

This evolution presents an opportunity for nutrition brands to meet demands that extend beyond weight loss, particularly in maintaining protein intake and supporting muscle health alongside managing hydration and fiber intake.

SlimFast aims to align its new product line with the needs of both GLP-1 users and those simply looking to enhance their everyday nutrition without a primary focus on losing weight.

For manufacturers, this shift illustrates how changing consumer preferences are prompting established brands to innovate within adjacent functional nutrition sectors rather than focusing solely on a single product offering.

Supreme is also enhancing its manufacturing capabilities as part of this strategy. The company has invested in a new wellness manufacturing facility in Manchester to expedite product innovation and increase responsiveness to evolving health and wellness trends.

This capability is crucial as the functional nutrition market evolves, with demand diversifying across various benefits and consumer situations, rather than being confined to a single category.

Dan Clark, Head of Health & Wellness at Supreme, stated that the company is evolving SlimFast into a comprehensive health and wellness brand centered on functional nutrition tailored for contemporary lifestyles.

“While weight management remains an important part of our heritage, consumers today aren’t simply trying to lose weight,” he noted. “They want trusted advice and convenient nutrition that supports protein intake, digestive health, hydration, healthy aging, muscle maintenance and overall wellbeing.”

The £5 million investment will also support an integrated marketing strategy that encompasses in-store communications, out-of-home advertising, public relations, digital engagement, influencer collaborations, and wellness education initiatives.

The goal is to reposition SlimFast as an everyday nutrition brand that is both accessible and appealing, while also retaining its loyal customer base.

This strategy builds upon Supreme’s broader role within the health and wellness industry, which includes ownership of Sci-Mx, known for creating creatine and soy protein products like V-Gain.

SlimFast now faces the task of leveraging its long-standing reputation built around weight management to establish credibility in the expanded functional nutrition marketplace.

Despite the challenges, this investment signifies a pivotal change in the sector: as consumers increasingly perceive nutrition through a multi-faceted health lens, established food and supplement brands are redefining their approaches beyond traditional category confines to seize new opportunities.
