Nothum Food Processing Systems has enhanced its customer support and product development initiatives with the introduction of the Nothum Solutions Studio, a specialized facility aimed at assisting food manufacturers in assessing advanced processing technologies prior to acquiring new machinery.
Situated in the company’s headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, this new center offers processors the opportunity to engage in comprehensive production trials, benefit from technical expertise, and receive assistance in optimizing their processes. Since its inception in May 2026, the facility has drawn customers from North America, South America, and Asia, indicating a rising interest in collaborative product development and process validation.
The Solutions Studio is designed as a hands-on environment where manufacturers can customize entire processing lines to their specific production needs. Visitors, collaborating with Nothum’s engineering, sales, and food technology teams, have the opportunity to explore various product formulations, adjust equipment parameters, and evaluate production performance under authentic manufacturing conditions.
This facility highlights Nothum’s diverse range of processing technologies, such as the SuperFlex homestyle breading machine, the BatterPro batter and tempura system, as well as the ProTherm continuous thermal fryer. Supporting tools like the AcuFeeder breading feeder and EzFlow frying oil filtration system are also offered for comprehensive line assessments.
Beyond the production area, the center includes a commercial kitchen for product preparation and testing, along with dedicated training spaces where clients can receive guidance on maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational procedures.
Henri Janssen, the general manager of Nothum in the Netherlands, characterized the new site as a strategic move towards enhancing customer collaboration.
“The Solutions Studio is our centre of excellence. It allows food manufacturers to optimise production efficiency while maintaining product quality and experience first-hand how our technologies contribute to texture, crispiness and overall product performance.”
One of the key goals of the Studio is to mitigate uncertainty tied to capital investments, enabling manufacturers to validate processing capabilities before installation of equipment. During each trial, Nothum’s experts partner with customers to establish project goals, explore production challenges, and record processing outcomes, offering valuable data to inform equipment selection and production line design.
The company also supports international clients with logistics, including local ingredient sourcing when importing materials is not feasible, allowing manufacturers to concentrate on product development rather than logistical complications.
Another appealing aspect is the Studio’s position within Nothum’s expansive 90,000 sq ft manufacturing facility. Visitors have the chance to tour the production floor, where roughly two-thirds of the space is devoted to the design, fabrication, and assembly of processing machines, providing a glimpse into the engineering and production processes that drive the company.
The modular design of the processing line facilitates trials across a broad spectrum of applications, such as poultry, seafood, beef, vegetables, and alternative proteins. Manufacturers can evaluate pre-dust, batter, breading, double-pass coating, and frying setups, testing everything from light coatings to more substantial homestyle and tempura applications.
Throughout each trial, integrated monitoring systems track essential production metrics, such as core product temperatures, coating retention at each step, and overall process effectiveness. These insights empower manufacturers to measure product quality, improve efficiency, and make better-informed investment choices.
