For the second consecutive year, Coca-Cola, in partnership with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners and Merlin Entertainments, is offering consumers the chance to win VIP experiences at some of the UK’s best-known attractions in exchange for empty plastic bottles.
To incentivize and encourage recycling, reverse vending machines will be placed at the attractions. These vending machines will feature quirky and themed designs that correspond to each prize on offer.
Since their introduction in 2019, the partnership has already resulted in over 100,000 plastic bottles being collected through the reverse vending machines.
Elodie Peribere, marketing director at Coca-Cola Great Britain, expresses her enthusiasm for the partnership: “This summer, reverse vending machines will be located across Merlin attractions, allowing guests to recycle their plastic bottles and have the opportunity to win amazing VIP experiences. We share Merlin’s passion for entertainment and commitment to sustainability. All of our bottles are 100% recyclable, and this year we have added attached caps to our portfolio, making it easier for people to recycle the entire package and reduce littering.”
The event will take place from July 1st to September 30th, 2023. There will be 28 reverse vending machines stationed at 11 participating Merlin Entertainments attractions, including Alton Towers Resort, Legoland Windsor Resort, Thorpe Park Resort, Chessington World of Adventures Resort, Warwick Castle, Sea Life aquariums in Blackpool, Birmingham, Brighton, and London, The Blackpool Tower, and Legoland Discovery Centre Birmingham.
