George Adams, a prominent name in the food manufacturing industry, unfortunately fell into administration earlier this year, leading to the closure of its manufacturing unit in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

However, a positive development has surfaced, as Finedale Foods has successfully acquired the brand’s intellectual property, trademarks, and recipes. Starting in the coming weeks, Finedale will begin manufacturing George Adams’ renowned range of products from its facility in Bunwell, Norfolk.

This acquisition allows George Adams to join Finedale’s impressive portfolio, which already includes established brands like Frank Dale Foodservice and Deli Santé.

Founded in 1910, George Adams originated as a butcher’s shop in Spalding, specializing in meats and pork pies. The company expanded significantly in the 1950s, transitioning into a larger manufacturing facility dedicated to producing a variety of pies, sausages, and cooked meats. Furthermore, the firm launched the ‘Ready 2 Eat’ pastry brand, effectively supplying chilled and frozen products to both retail and foodservice channels.

Finedale Foods’ Managing Director, Edward Miles, stated, “The George Adams 1910 brand has a wealth of history behind it, and we are pleased to be opening the next chapter and giving it a bright future.” He emphasized the brand’s reputation for artisanal pies, sausage rolls, and Scotch egg products, which are cherished by retail and food service customers across the UK.

Miles highlighted, “This fits perfectly with our existing brands and widens our production capabilities at our manufacturing unit in Norfolk.* He also expressed enthusiasm about revitalizing the brand and building upon its 113-year legacy. “George Adams has been creating delicious food since 1910. We feel proud to be carrying on the tradition here at Finedale Foods and look forward to working in partnership with our customers to supply these quality products to the foodservice and retail markets once again.”
