Fyffes and Miles Import SA have entered a landmark three-year strategic agreement appointing Miles Import as Fyffes’ exclusive distributor in France from 1 January 2027.

The partnership marks a significant step in Fyffes’ strategy to expand its presence and strengthen its commercial capabilities in one of Europe’s most important fresh produce markets. It also reflects wider food and beverage industry trends, including the growing importance of local market expertise, resilient supply chains, and transparent sourcing.

Expanding reach in the French market

The agreement combines the complementary strengths of two established businesses. Fyffes contributes more than 100 years of experience in fresh produce, supported by international sourcing expertise, production capabilities, and a broad global supply network. Miles Import brings extensive knowledge of France, long-standing customer partnerships, and strong commercial experience across retail, foodservice, and food processing.

Frank Burkhardt, chief commercial officer at Fyffes, said success in France depends on market insight and trusted relationships. Miles Import is therefore well positioned to help Fyffes extend its responsible sourcing model and international supply capabilities to a wider customer base.

A partnership built over time

Although the relationship will become an exclusive distribution arrangement in 2027, the agreement builds on six years of successful cooperation. Miles Import has represented and developed the Fyffes brand in France since 2020.

Guy Lesvenan, chairman and CEO of Miles Import, said the new agreement reflects a common commitment to quality, traceability, transparency, and lasting customer relationships. These principles are increasingly important as food manufacturing trends and food processing technology continue to influence purchasing, sourcing, and supply chain decisions.

What the agreement means

Miles Import will assume responsibility for the commercial development of Fyffes bananas in France while continuing to manage its existing pineapple distribution activities. The expanded portfolio will give customers access to a broader range of tropical fresh produce through one established distribution partner.

The companies also intend to create a stronger, more adaptable supply chain capable of responding to changing customer requirements. This focus aligns with emerging food distribution trends, including the need for dependable availability, efficient logistics, and greater supply chain resilience.

French customers can expect consistent product quality, reliable deliveries, and responsive service. Fyffes’ international infrastructure will support Miles Import’s local execution, creating a service model suited to the evolving expectations reflected in food and drink consumer trends.

As the agreement takes effect on 1 January 2027, the partnership is positioned to accelerate the supply and commercial development of tropical fresh produce throughout France. It also highlights the wider role of food and drink industry innovation, food and drink sustainability, food and drink regulations, food and drink packaging, and food and drink marketing in shaping future growth across the sector.
