Tim Rycroft, who joined the organisation in 2021 from the Food and Drink Federation (FDF), where he served as chief operating officer, is set to step down from his role as AHDB boss at the end of 2023. He was appointed to replace Jane King and has made significant contributions during his two-year tenure.
Under Rycroft’s guidance, AHDB achieved several milestones, including the industry-wide ‘Shape the Future’ consultation. Additionally, he played an instrumental role in enhancing the management team to better assist levy payers in overcoming future challenges. Although Rycroft has not yet disclosed his next career move, he has displayed a steadfast commitment to his role.
In light of his departure, AHDB chair Nicholas Saphir expressed his admiration for Rycroft’s accomplishments. He stated, “Tim has been instrumental in delivering the board’s program to refocus the organization for increased value and engagement among levy payers.” Saphir commended Rycroft’s unwavering dedication to all levy payers and his ability to foster a culture of collaboration. The board extends its heartfelt gratitude to Rycroft for his paramount role in cultivating a value-based and levy payer-engaged organization.
Before joining the FDF, Rycroft held esteemed positions in senior domestic and international corporate affairs. These included roles with InterContinental Hotels Group, Diageo, and Boots Healthcare International. Rycroft also served as a special adviser within the government, offering his expertise to the Minister without Portfolio and later to the Secretary of State for Health. With his extensive experience in corporate communications consultancy, Rycroft has further enhanced his skills in the industry.
Foregoing his decision to depart was not an easy one, but Rycroft exudes confidence in AHDB’s future. “Thanks to the outstanding work of the entire team, AHDB has navigated through substantial changes and now stands strong, ready to tackle the future while providing excellent service to levy payers and the broader agricultural sector,” he affirmed. Rycroft believes that his mission is nearly complete, and therefore, the end of 2023 marks the opportune time for him to pursue new endeavors.
Looking ahead, AHDB will initiate the process of finding a suitable successor to fill Rycroft’s shoes. Embracing a business tone, this announcement emphasizes the seamless transition and continuity AHDB aims to achieve in maintaining its current momentum, ensuring continued support for levy payers and the agricultural industry at large.
