Zeus Packaging Group, recognized as one of Europe’s rapidly expanding packaging companies, has successfully acquired Simpac Limited, the UK’s oldest manufacturer of paper sacks and packaging. Renowned for over a century of expertise and innovation in sustainable packaging, Simpac stands out in the industry.

Established in 1903, Simpac has cemented its position as a market leader in fibre-based packaging. It supplies tailor-made paper sacks, branded food wraps, carrier bags, and sustainable e-commerce mailers to some of the UK’s largest retailers, food businesses, and agricultural producers. With operations in Hull and Glasgow and a workforce of over 130 employees, Simpac generates revenues exceeding £30 million. Furthermore, it has consistently been recognized at the UK Packaging Awards for its commitment to innovation and sustainability in food and drink packaging.

Simpac’s innovative legacy includes the pioneering Good-e™ eco mailing bag—an excellent recyclable alternative to plastic mailers—and the new Deliver-e™ Lift Liner, a patented solution that boosts efficiency in food retail home delivery and Click & Collect services. Additionally, the company has invested heavily in developing tamper-evident liners, branded retail bags, and recyclable food wraps, including baking foil and clingfilm. Its paper sack expertise supports various agricultural needs with breathable options for root vegetables and heavy-duty sacks designed for animal feed, showcasing the versatility of Simpac across different domains.

The merger enables Zeus customers to leverage Simpac’s specialized manufacturing expertise and cutting-edge sustainable products. In turn, Simpac’s clientele gains from Zeus’s strong European supply chain, global procurement capabilities, and advanced manufacturing expertise in corrugated packaging, film extrusion, tapes, labels, and retail bag production. Together, this creates one of the most expansive packaging portfolios in Europe, offering customers enhanced choices, improved sustainability, and economies of scale across retail, e-commerce, food and drink sectors, industrial applications, and agricultural markets.

Brian O’Sullivan, Owner & Founder of Zeus Packaging Group, stated: “Simpac has a proven track record of innovation, from its Good-e™ mailers to the Paper Lift Liner that is already transforming food retail delivery. Their expertise in sacks, wraps, and branded packaging perfectly complements our broader capabilities in retail, e-commerce, industrial, food, and agricultural packaging. We foresee significant synergies for our combined customers and clear opportunities to invest in innovative sustainable packaging solutions that together create a comprehensive offer unmatched in the market.”

Sandy Bole, Managing Director of Simpac, added: “For over a century, Simpac has been trusted by retailers, producers, and distributors to deliver high-quality packaging solutions. Our focus has always been on innovation—whether in branded food wraps, sustainable mailers, or productivity-enhancing technologies like the Paper Lift Liner. By joining Zeus, we now have the platform, scale, and resources to accelerate these innovations, expand our international reach, and deliver even more value to our combined customers.”
