Tosca Showcases 100% Recycled Circular Pallet for More Sustainable Fresh Produce Supply Chains at Fruit Attraction

Tosca Showcases 100% Recycled Circular Pallet for More Sustainable Fresh Produce Supply Chains at Fruit Attraction circular economy, events, food and drink packaging, food and drink sustainable packaging, Food packaging, Pallets, plastic, Reusable packaging Food and Beverage Business

At this year’s Fruit Attraction, Tosca presented its euro-size Circular Pallet (CP1208), created in collaboration with Cabka. The solution demonstrates how reusable, recyclable transport packaging can help build safer, more efficient, sustainable and regulation-ready supply chains across the food and beverage industry.

The exhibition provided Tosca with an opportunity to show growers, producers, manufacturers and retailers how the pallet can strengthen operational performance, support automation and advance sustainability objectives. These priorities reflect wider food manufacturing trends and the growing demand for practical solutions across the fresh produce sector.

“Fruit Attraction brings together many of the businesses shaping the future of the fresh produce supply chain, making it the ideal setting to discuss practical solutions to today’s challenges,” said Laurent Le Mercier, EMEA President at Tosca. “The euro-size Tosca Circular Pallet (CP1208) demonstrates how reusable transport packaging can help businesses improve food safety, efficiency, support compliance with evolving regulations such as PPWR and reduce waste, all while maintaining the performance required in modern supply chains. Together with Cabka, we are helping customers turn circularity into a practical advantage across their operations.”

Built to improve supply chain performance

The euro-size Tosca Circular Pallet (CP1208) has been developed for straightforward integration into established logistics and handling systems. Its standard 1200 × 800 mm dimensions are compatible with euro-size pallet equipment, depending on the specifications of each installation. Rounded skid edges help reduce contact damage during forklift movements by limiting impact points compared with conventional square-edged designs.

By providing a consistent and dependable handling platform, the pallet enables businesses to update and streamline supply chain operations while preparing for evolving food processing technology and automated warehouse requirements.

“Our contribution is to turn recycled plastics into durable transport products designed around customers’ operational needs. With this pallet, we have combined Cabka’s expertise in materials and product engineering with Tosca’s experience in pooling. Together, we are putting recycled materials to work in demanding fresh produce supply chains,” said Alex Masharov, CEO of Cabka.

The pallet is designed for use with Tosca’s reusable plastic crates. Grooves incorporated into the deck hold the crates securely without the need for straps, supporting stable and safer double-stacked loads while simplifying handling. RFID capability also improves asset tracking, traceability and visibility throughout the supply chain—priorities that align with emerging food distribution trends.

Reusable, hygienic and manufactured from 100% recycled material

Its non-porous, splinter-free surface can be cleaned easily, making the Tosca Circular Pallet (CP1208) suitable for FMCG operations, growers and retailers where hygiene, product protection and reliable quality are essential. The durable pallet uses an exclusive recycled-plastic blend and features integrated drainage openings that limit water accumulation and moisture retention.

These characteristics help reduce the risk of contamination and product damage while delivering dependable performance in automated storage and retrieval environments. They also support broader food and drink sustainability goals by extending asset life and reducing reliance on short-lived transport products.

Promoting safer manual handling

The pallet’s ergonomic construction includes smoothly integrated handles positioned across the top deck, along with enhanced stability and anti-slip properties. These features support safer movement throughout the supply chain, including warehouses, packing areas and retail distribution centres. Weighing more than 4 kg less than conventional wooden pallets, it is also easier for employees to lift and reposition during routine activities.

This reduced weight and improved ergonomics contribute to the social dimension of ESG by helping limit physical strain and the potential for manual-handling injuries. Combining lightweight recycled plastic with a stable structure, secure grip and accessible top-deck handles allows the pallet to support more comfortable working conditions in demanding logistics environments.

“In high-throughput environments, efficiency and worker safety go hand in hand,” says Le Mercier. “By improving stability, grip and ease of handling, the euro-size Tosca Circular Pallet (CP1208) helps reduce manual strain and the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, creating safer working conditions while supporting operational performance.”

Prepared for PPWR and EPR requirements

The European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is prompting companies to reassess logistics and packaging strategies. As food and drink regulations continue to evolve, supply chains require reusable, traceable packaging solutions that include recycled content from the outset. In contrast with wooden pallets that may require ISPM 15 heat treatment or fumigation, the Tosca Circular Pallet (CP1208) supports preparedness for this regulatory shift through a reusable circular model.

Manufactured from 100% recycled plastic, the pallet can be repaired and returned to service repeatedly before being recycled at the end of its useful life. This approach reflects Tosca’s pooling-based circular economy model. Long service life and modular repairability can reduce total ownership costs while limiting the waste linked to disposable or short-term transport assets.

Its design also responds to the broader evolution of food and drink packaging, where companies increasingly seek durable formats that support reuse, traceability and resource efficiency rather than one-way distribution.

“At Tosca, we don’t simply supply a pallet,” concludes Le Mercier. “We partner with customers to manage assets and deliver supply chain performance, meet regulatory requirements, and turn circularity into a lasting competitive advantage.”

The Tosca Circular Pallet (CP1208) represents the latest development in the company’s work to help food, beverage and non-food manufacturers create safer, more efficient and more circular supply chains. Combining circular product design with Tosca’s pooling and asset-management capabilities, the solution shows how businesses can pursue operational excellence and regulatory compliance while supporting long-term sustainability strategies. It also reflects the wider direction of food and drink industry innovation and changing food and drink consumer trends.
