TIPA has launched an innovative home compostable metallised high-barrier film, providing a biodegradable solution specifically designed for chips and salty snacks.

This introduction aligns with the increasing demand for sustainable food and beverage packaging, as the global market is projected to grow at a rate exceeding 5% in the next five years.

The 312MET Premium film serves as a lightweight, ultra-thin metallised solution that offers high barrier protection against common challenges such as salt, oil, and moisture. By eliminating the need for an additional sealing layer, this film enhances efficiency in converting processes and demonstrates versatility across various applications.

Available globally in reels, this film, when combined with cellulose or paper layers, provides one of the market’s thinnest 2-ply home compostable solutions for chips and snacks.

Designed for a wide range of products—including chips, snacks, granola bars, grains, coffee, and tea—the film ensures exceptional freshness and an extended shelf life while promoting an eco-friendly end-of-life solution.

“Packaging chips in compostable materials has long been a formidable challenge due to their corrosive properties,” stated Rodrigo Castaneda, VP/GM TIPA North America. “With our high-barrier film, we’re taking a step forward in reducing plastic waste, while ensuring snack brands and consumers have a viable, thin, high-performance sustainable alternative.”
