TekniPlex Consumer Products, a globally integrated provider of innovative solutions through materials science and manufacturing technologies, has obtained ISCC Plus Certification (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) for its manufacturing facility in Dublin, Virginia. The designation allows the company to certify the percentages of advanced recycled polypropylene (PP) included in the food-sector solutions produced at the plant, including coffee pods, fruit and dessert cups, deli packaging and containers for, yogurts and other dairy items.

In the pursuit of sustainable packaging solutions, TekniPlex Consumer Products has achieved ISCC Plus Certification for its manufacturing facility in Dublin, Virginia. This internationally recognized certification enables the company to accurately verify and certify the use of advanced recycled polypropylene (PP) in its food-sector solutions, such as coffee pods, fruit and dessert cups, deli packaging, and containers for yogurts and other dairy products.

One key challenge in utilizing advanced recycled plastics is ensuring transparency and accuracy in sustainability claims. Unlike conventional mechanical recycling, chemical recycling produces pristine resins that are functionally equivalent to virgin materials. To address this, TekniPlex Consumer Products relies on the globally recognized ISCC Plus system, which provides verifiable traceability of recycled materials throughout the supply chain and sets transparent standards for advanced recycled materials.

The ISCC Plus Certification serves to reassure customers that TekniPlex Consumer Products’ packaging solutions incorporate varying percentages of recycled PP. By meeting legislative mandates for increased recycled content and reduced virgin resin usage without compromising functionality or protection, the company demonstrates its commitment to sustainability.

Rafael Posada, Global Sustainability Director for TekniPlex Consumer Products, emphasizes the importance of transparency in sustainability claims: “As we continue to integrate recycled plastics into our materials science-based solutions, we are equally committed to maintaining the authenticity and credibility of our sustainability efforts, as well as those claimed by our customers. The ISCC Plus designation allows us to verify the usage of advanced recycled polypropylene, providing a tangible endorsement of our PCR statements and showcasing our dedication to sustainability.”
