Syntegon, a prominent global technology firm and strategic partner to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and food industries, has released its 2024 sustainability report. This report highlights the company’s measurable advancements in environmental, social, and governance areas, emphasizing sustainable solutions and reaffirming Syntegon’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.

Strategic Approach

Syntegon’s sustainability strategy is anchored by three pillars: environmental stewardship, social empowerment, and responsible governance. Throughout all business sectors, the company aims to minimize its environmental impact, foster a safe and inclusive workplace, and maintain the highest ethical standards. By integrating sustainable practices within its operations as well as customer solutions, Syntegon positively influences not only its clients’ businesses but also the wellbeing of people and the planet.

Sustainable Solutions

As a dedicated partner, Syntegon collaborates with its customers to tackle future challenges. The company supports their sustainability objectives, mitigates safety risks, protects product integrity, and delivers added value at every stage of a system’s life cycle. Through innovative technologies and future-proof solutions, Syntegon significantly reduces emissions, waste, and resource consumption while enhancing operational efficiency.

As we continue to grow, our responsibility to society and the environment grows with us,” stated Torsten Türling, Chief Executive Officer of Syntegon. “Sustainability is the foundation of our value creation, and our mission to make medicine more accessible and food safer will always go hand in hand with a more sustainable world.”

Strong 2024 Operational Achievements in Sustainability

In 2024, Syntegon integrated sustainability considerations into its strategic and operational decisions, enhanced board-level oversight, and bolstered transparency ahead of new regulatory frameworks, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The establishment of a dedicated sustainability team facilitated the implementation of its sustainability roadmap and strategic compliance with the CSRD.

A key milestone was the validation of the company’s climate targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This endorsement affirms Syntegon’s commitment to aligning emission reductions with the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement. The sustainability report indicates substantial progress, evidenced by a 36% reduction in CO₂ emissions since 2019 and a yearly decline of 7% in energy consumption.

Employee development also took center stage, with over 9,400 digital training courses made available. Efforts in workplace safety, well-being, and diversity have contributed to a more resilient and inclusive organizational culture. “Our approach is clear: We embed sustainability directly into our operational processes, where it creates the most lasting impact,” remarked Petros Kapelles, Chief Operations Officer of Syntegon. “From emissions to education, every step matters. EcoVadis Platinum reflects our strong sustainability commitment.”

Syntegon Ranked Among the Top 1% by EcoVadis

In April 2025, Syntegon achieved a Platinum rating from EcoVadis, placing it in the top 1% of over 150,000 companies evaluated globally for sustainability performance. This prestigious rating recognizes excellence in environmental impact, labor practices, ethics, and sustainable procurement within the food and drink sustainable packaging sector.

“We are proud to be recognized with EcoVadis’ highest distinction,” said Yvonne Gillet, Vice President Sustainability at Syntegon. “It reflects the dedication of our teams and reinforces our commitment to integrating sustainability into everything we do.”

Looking Ahead: A Clear Path to Net-Zero
