SÜDPACK stands as a robust ally for the dairy and cheese sector, delivering a range of high-performance films specifically designed for packaging cheese blocks, fresh mozzarella, as well as shredded and sliced cheese. From April 15 to 17, SÜDPACK will proudly exhibit its innovative recyclable materials at CheeseCon in Madison, USA. Stop by booth 922 to explore various solutions for thermoforming applications, stand-up pouches, and flowpacks that meet the stringent demands for recyclability and material efficiency in food and drink packaging.

Our recyclable mono-structures, crafted from polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), offer functionalities that match those of traditional composite materials. They effectively safeguard the packaged products, prolong shelf life, and maintain freshness. In daily production processes, these materials excel due to their excellent machinability, ensuring high reliability in process and packaging.

Unlike conventional packaging films, these groundbreaking single-material solutions can seamlessly integrate into existing recycling streams. Furthermore, the lower CO2 equivalents associated with polyolefins PP and PE enhance their ecological standing. Notably, opting for more material-efficient flowpacks instead of heavier packaging methods, like thermoformed packaging, significantly elevates the sustainability impact of these food and drink sustainable packaging solutions.

Packaging Solutions for Cheese Blocks and Shredded Cheese

At the trade show, SÜDPACK will feature its dependable Pure-Line product family, highlighting PE-based pouches and flowpacks. The materials are tailored to meet the requirements of various dairy products. “Our single-material solutions for manufacturing stand-up pouches for shredded cheese are designed so they can be processed on existing machines and can also be easily and reliably equipped with conventional zippers,” explained Carlo Remmele, Chief Executive USA Division.

Recyclable Packaging Options for Sliced Cheese

SÜDPACK will also present an innovative recyclable rigid film concept for producing thermoformed packaging using polypropylene. The precisely matched top and bottom webs ensure high process and packaging reliability, thereby enhancing food safety with their superior sealing performance and barrier properties. Moreover, the Multipeel top web allows for easy opening and reclosure, extending shelf life and ensuring culinary enjoyment until the last slice of cheese is consumed.

Sustainable Cheese Ripening Solutions

With the Tubular Bag PurePE, SÜDPACK has introduced a PE-based, fully functional alternative to traditional PA/PE structures used within the cheese ripening industry. This innovative solution optimally processes on standard full- and semi-automatic packaging machines. Importantly, it sets new benchmarks in recyclability and material efficiency while minimizing carbon footprints. “At the same time, we can meet the demanding requirements in terms of product protection and functionality for the barrier properties essential for cheese ripening, the ripening process, and puncture resistance,” clarified Carlo Remmele. This concept garnered the prestigious German Packaging Award in 2023 and the WorldStar Award from the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) in 2024.
