SIG has introduced SIG CleanClic Connect, a bag-in-box fitment solution developed to provide greater dispensing flexibility and streamline day-to-day operations for foodservice customers across the food and beverage industry.

As beverage menus continue to expand, manufacturers and foodservice businesses require packaging formats that can accommodate both traditional products and new concepts. SIG CleanClic Connect supports a broad selection of applications, including beverage concentrates, refreshers, teas, creamers, shake mixes, and other foodservice offerings. This flexibility enables operators to respond to evolving food and drink consumer trends and menu demands without creating additional operational complexity.

“Foodservice is rapidly evolving as operators introduce new beverage concepts and look for more versatile ways to serve consumers,” said Jana Martin, Sr. Manager Global Marketing Foodservice at SIG. “SIG CleanClic Connect reflects how SIG helps customers connect products to dispensing systems with confidence, simplify operations through advanced product protection and aseptic technology, and create opportunities to grow by supporting a broad range of beverage and foodservice applications. It’s a future-ready bag-in-box fitment solution designed to help customers adapt and succeed in a changing marketplace.”

Designed around the practical demands of dispensing environments, SIG CleanClic Connect attaches easily and incorporates a positive reclosure feature. A hermetic seal protects the package before its initial connection, helping preserve product quality and aseptic integrity. Its compatibility with bag-in-tray formats also allows the fitment to perform across a variety of dispensing systems.

The technology operates through an integrated connection, dispensing, and reclosure process. Once the probe engages with the fitment’s internal components, the opening is activated and the product can flow. After disconnection, the plug moves back into an interference-fit position to securely close the fitment again. By keeping the product pathway open during dispensing and closed during servicing, the design can help limit exposure, leakage, product loss, and handling demands compared with solutions that lack positive reclosure. This approach reflects broader food manufacturing trends focused on efficiency, product protection, and improved food processing technology.

“Our goal was to translate real customer needs into a simple, dependable bag-in-box fitment,” said Steve Ditore, the SIG engineer who led its development. “SIG CleanClic Connect combines an intuitive connection with reliable reclosure and product protection. Its compatibility across applications can help foodservice operators simplify changeovers and get more value from their dispensing programs. The SIG CleanClic Connect is engineered to help customers and foodservice operators future-proof their products with a solution designed for recycling streams where available.”

From installation through dispensing, SIG CleanClic Connect is designed to provide a straightforward connect-and-go experience. The system can support consistent product delivery, help reduce waste, and improve speed of service. By pairing bag-in-box packaging with advanced dispensing capabilities, the solution illustrates how food and drink industry innovation can translate into practical operational benefits.

The development also aligns with wider priorities surrounding food and drink sustainability, food and drink packaging, and the need for adaptable solutions across changing food distribution trends. By helping operators simplify processes and support multiple applications, SIG CleanClic Connect can contribute to more efficient dispensing programs while giving businesses room to respond to evolving food and drink marketing strategies and customer expectations.

“At SIG, innovation is not a one-time achievement. It has defined our company and guided more than 70 years of partnership within the foodservice industry,” said Chris Johns, General Manager America North and Global bag-in-box & spouted pouch at SIG. “SIG CleanClic Connect is a testament to that legacy, demonstrating how we continue to develop forward-thinking solutions that address today’s challenges while preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities. As we look ahead, SIG remains dedicated to leading the evolution of the bag-in-box industry through continuous innovation, customer-focused advancements, and commitment to shaping the future of foodservice for decades to come.”
