Romaco Introduces the KTS 840 at Interpack: Advanced Tableting Technology for Triple-Layer Tablets

Romaco Introduces the KTS 840 at Interpack: Advanced Tableting Technology for Triple-Layer Tablets events, food and drink packaging, food and drink sustainable packaging, Food packaging, Machinery Food and Beverage Business

At interpack 2026, Romaco Kilian will unveil the KTS 840, a new rotary tablet press designed for triple-layer applications within the nutraceutical and food sectors. This durable machine will be showcased alongside Theegarten-PACTEC, demonstrating a high-speed production line specifically for compressing and packaging bouillon cubes. Additionally, Romaco will highlight its expertise in research and development through the KTP 1X compaction simulator.

The KTS 840 tablet press is engineered for versatility, capable of compressing a wide range of dosage forms and sizes. With up to 91 press stations and an impressive pitch circle of 840 mm, this machine can produce a maximum output of 300,000 tablets each hour while maintaining low vibration levels, even under pre- and main compression forces up to 100 kN. Its design aligns with cGMP hygiene standards, effectively separating the compaction area from the machine compartment to meet stringent quality requirements associated with the production process.

This rotary tablet press features three uniquely designed fill shoe systems, allowing it to reliably handle sticky, abrasive, corrosive, and poorly flowing powders with complete control. Moreover, its segmented rotor enhances productivity and facilitates quicker format changes. The KTS 840’s powerful, maintenance-free torque drive ensures longevity.

On display will also be the KTP 1X compaction simulator, a cutting-edge instrument that assists in tablet development using digital tools. This all-in-one solution is perfect for research and development while also enabling targeted troubleshooting and process optimization. The single-stroke press can effectively simulate any typical rotary press, significantly easing technology transfer and scale-up trials. It’s compatible with the design and analysis of mono-layer, bi-layer, and triple-layer tablets, as well as tab-in-tab formats, determining optimal compression profiles based on various ingredients. Its highly automated compression studies allow for meaningful results to be achieved with fewer test series. Additionally, a dedicated data module offers users remote access to raw measurement data, streamlining research projects and enhancing efficiency.

The compact size of the KTP 1X makes it ideal for any laboratory setting, and its design ensures easy cleaning while promoting sustainability through reduced product consumption. Depending on the model, it can provide compression forces of up to 80 kN, producing as many as 1,800 tablets an hour.

Romaco Kilian and Theegarten-PACTEC will also present a high-speed line dedicated to the tableting and packaging of bouillon cubes. This system includes the KTS 1000 tablet press and the BHS continuous wrapping machine, marking it as one of the most efficient on the market today.

The KTS 1000 high-speed press exemplifies Romaco Kilian’s specialized knowledge in handling large tablets. Capable of producing up to 6,000 cubes per minute, it is suitable for a variety of applications and can function continuously around the clock. It features diverse filling systems that ensure precise dosing and uses specialized tools to handle viscous or abrasive powders safely. Protection against contamination during the compression process is provided by elastic bellows, enhancing product quality and maintaining a reliable operation. Further, a clear separation between compaction and service areas mitigates tablet dust contamination, thus minimizing cleaning and maintenance costs. The KTS 1000 also operates efficiently in non-air-conditioned environments, showing impressive overall equipment effectiveness and seamless integration into existing packaging lines.

Attendees at the trade fair will have the opportunity to witness the high-speed production and packaging line for bouillon cubes in action at Theegarten-PACTEC’s booth.
