Franklin & Sons, an independent soft drinks and mixers brand, is set to launch a new product format in collaboration with UK Red Engine sites – known for popular venues such as Flight Club and Electric Shuffle.
The team at Franklin & Sons has been hard at work developing a 200ml can for its Premium Indian & Premium Light Tonic, aligning with the company’s sustainability goals. Red Engine was the perfect partner for this exciting launch.
Flight Club and Electric Shuffle have quickly become popular socialising venues, offering a modern twist on traditional games like darts and shuffleboard. The new aluminium cans weigh 94% less than the previous glass bottles, resulting in reduced weight per case and significant savings in transportation costs, fuel consumption, and packaging volume, ultimately leading to a lower carbon footprint.
This initiative will not only benefit the environment but also streamline operations at Red Engine. By switching to the new packaging, Red Engine is projected to reduce wastage removal expenses by a substantial 42%.
Dustin Acton, Red Engine’s chief operating officer, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership, stating, “We value our partnership with Franklin & Sons and appreciate their commitment to meeting our business needs.”
James Stimson, senior brand manager at Franklin & Sons, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the sustainability benefits of the new packaging. “Aluminium cans are infinitely recyclable, requiring 95% less energy to produce than new packaging. Furthermore, they generate 65% less CO2e during the recycling process compared to glass counterparts.”
The partnership between Franklin & Sons and Red Engine underscores a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. Both teams are excited about the positive impact this new packaging format will bring to the business and look forward to continuing their collaborative relationship.
