ReCB Iowa LLC, a fully-owned subsidiary of ReCB LLC, is officially in operation, creating a vital domestic end market for post-consumer food and drink packaging, specifically food and drink sustainable packaging. The facility specializes in manufacturing EverboardTM, a high-performance building material that supports the construction industry’s shift away from virgin resources, addressing the increasing demand for eco-friendly alternatives.

Following the acquisition of the facility in early 2025, ReCB LLC has implemented significant technology and equipment enhancements aimed at improving efficiency and expanding capacity. In partnership with Elof Hansson USA Inc., Upcycling Group, and Lisa Tech, the company anticipates achieving full operational status by September. Once fully operational, ReCB Iowa LLC aims to upcycle around 10,000 tons of cartons each year.

“We’re supplying the construction sector with premium, sustainable materials while conserving natural resources, cutting carbon emissions, and driving demand for recycled cartons across the U.S. This is how targeted investments in recycling infrastructure deliver scalable, circular economy solutions,” stated Jan Rayman, Managing Director at ReCB LLC.

The proprietary process utilized at ReCB converts post-consumer gable top and aseptic cartons into high-quality roof cover board and potentially other moisture-resistant, mold-resistant building materials. This closed-loop system operates without water, formaldehyde adhesives, or hazardous chemicals. Instead, it employs heat and pressure to create resilient, high-performance boards that outperform traditional gypsum products in durability and sustainability.

In collaboration with the Carton Council, Elof Hansson, and Upcycling Group, ReCB LLC is also establishing another production facility in Lodi, California, set to be operational later this year. Collectively, these facilities strengthen domestic recycling infrastructure for food and drink packaging and reinforce the essential connection between recycling collection initiatives and viable end markets.

“Continued access to carton recycling is essential. We need people to keep recycling their food and beverage cartons to prevent them from ending up in landfills and to reintegrate them into the market,” emphasized Jordan Fengel, Executive Director of the Carton Council. “The reopening and expansion of this facility highlight the growing momentum behind enhancing domestic carton recycling systems and our commitment to developing sustainable, scalable end markets.”
