Backed by a substantial investment of half a million pounds in Boix punnet-forming technology, the launch signifies Paranova’s strategic expansion into sustainable, heat-sealed paper-based punnet packaging. This initiative aligns with growing food and drink sustainability efforts.
Michael Conway, chief commercial officer of Paranova, stated: “Following our recent investment and development in leading punnet technology, we are proud to have launched this new format for Flavourfresh. Delivering a significant reduction in plastic, it demonstrates how paper-based punnets can offer on-shelf differentiation, operational efficiency, and support sustainability ambitions.” This product innovation highlights the importance of sustainable packaging in the food and drink sector.
Additionally, Paranova is preparing to unveil FastFlex, an innovative tray and lidding system tailored for fresh produce and convenience applications. This system aims to enhance food and drink marketing efforts by offering lead times of under seven days for lidding supply, thereby dramatically reducing turnaround times compared to traditional 2-4 week print cycles.
According to Paranova, the FastFlex platform has been designed to provide greater agility for retailers and growers. It will cater to short production windows, promotional launches, seasonal demand fluctuations, and reduced stock holdings—all critical factors in today’s food and drink consumer trends.
Manufactured using a newly commissioned press specifically designed for filmic paper-based tray applications, the FastFlex system will merge reduced origination costs with no minimum order quantity requirements. This advancement further underscores Paranova’s commitment to sustainable packaging solutions within the food and drink industry.
