Mondi's Entire Kraft Paper Portfolio Receives Compostability Certification compostability certification, kraft papers, Mondi Food and Beverage Business

Mondi’s entire portfolio of kraft papers for packaging has recently received certification as home or industrially compostable, marking a significant milestone in the company’s sustainability efforts. The certification underpins Mondi’s MAP2030 sustainability commitment to make 100% of its packaging and paper products reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025.

The decision to pursue compostability certification aligns with Mondi’s focus on providing sustainable end-of-life options for its packaging products. While recyclability remains a primary focus, composting is seen as a viable solution for certain applications, particularly those in the biowaste stream.

Mondi’s kraft papers are sourced from renewable and certified sources, offering customers a sustainable choice for their packaging needs. The diverse product range caters to various requirements, including industrial packaging, shopping bags, and food packaging for supermarket shelves.

One notable example of Mondi’s compostable kraft papers is Advantage MF EcoComp, specifically designed for household and agricultural use. This paper is utilized for creating compostable paper bags for the disposal of wet organic household waste. Another example is Mondi’s EcoVantage kraft paper, which combines fresh and recycled fibres to create sustainable and food-compliant shopping packaging.

Silvia Hanzelova, Sales Director Speciality Kraft Paper at Mondi, emphasizes the importance of these certifications in providing customers with sustainable packaging solutions. She states, “Certifications like these illustrate our ongoing commitment to provide our customers with the most suitable and sustainable packaging materials and solutions. They give all our industrial, commercial, and manufacturing customers the confidence that our papers are compostable and reassure them that, with us, they are working towards a more sustainable future. A future that continues to provide strong, effective packaging tailored to their individual needs.”

As part of Mondi’s initiatives to drive sustainability in food packaging, the company’s prioritization of compostability certification reinforces its dedication to environmental responsibility and innovation in the industry.
