MAGIC S.p.A. Orders Advanced Food Pad Production Line with Airlaid Technology from ANDRITZ food and drink packaging, food and drink sustainable packaging, Food packaging Food and Beverage Business

International technology firm ANDRITZ has been chosen to deliver a new food pad eXcelle production line featuring cutting-edge airlaid technology for MAGIC S.p.A., a prominent Italian company specializing in absorbent materials for food pads, medical applications, personal hygiene, and care products. The line is anticipated to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027.

While the financial details of the contract remain undisclosed, it has been included in ANDRITZ’s order book for the third quarter of 2025.

MAGIC S.p.A. opted for ANDRITZ due to its integrated airlaid forming technology, which promises to enhance product quality and enable the company to fortify its market presence. The tailored solution engineered by ANDRITZ Diatec in conjunction with ANDRITZ Dan-Web has optimized a high-performance system that flawlessly incorporates airlaid forming technology into a highly effective production model.

This innovation provides considerable benefits for food pad manufacturing, particularly in terms of exceptional absorption and retention capabilities. Such performance is essential in applications dealing with meat, fish, and fruits, where proper management of excess liquids is crucial for safety and hygiene. The airlaid structure facilitates rapid liquid absorption and minimal rewetting. The combination of ANDRITZ’s advanced airlaid technology and MAGIC’s proprietary superabsorbent biodegradable powder will pave the way for a new generation of absorbent materials.

Mauro Giani, CEO of MAGIC S.p.A., remarked, “This initiative and the enhancement of our production capabilities hold strategic significance for MAGIC. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with ANDRITZ, whose established success in hygiene converting and airlaid technology influenced our choice. We believe that this partnership will powerfully enhance our market position and propel our future development.”

Leonardo Poggiogalle, Global Sales Director at ANDRITZ Diatec, commented, “We are thrilled that this new venture with MAGIC S.p.A. aligns with our strategy of providing adaptable line configurations. Our innovative food pad eXcelle line is tailored to fulfill customer expectations for unparalleled product quality and performance. This achievement is a testament to our strong partnership with MAGIC S.p.A. and the cohesive structure of ANDRITZ Nonwoven & Textile, promoting seamless collaboration and technology exchange across our centers of excellence.”
