Legacy Bakehouse, a prominent US-based contract and private-label manufacturer, has successfully acquired Classic Cookie. This strategic move marks its entry into the sweet snacks segment.

The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.

Legacy Bakehouse emphasized that this acquisition enhances its product range and geographical reach by adding a retail brand with nationwide distribution.

Alain Vallet-Sandre, Chief Commercial Officer of Legacy Bakehouse, stated: “Adding our contract manufacturing and private label capabilities to Classic Cookie’s robust sales channels, while expanding our salty/savory snacking platform to include sweet items, enhances Legacy’s appeal to a broader spectrum of customers.”

Classic Cookie, founded in 1984 and located in Sevierville, Tennessee, specializes in producing soft-baked, energy caffeine, and crispy mini cookies. The offerings, available in pouches and boxes, can be found at Walmart and other national as well as regional retailers, in addition to being distributed through fundraising organizations.

Legacy Bakehouse, supported by private-equity firm Benford Capital, has a remarkable history, having been established in 1917.

The company specializes in producing a variety of baked snacks, including pita chips, tortillas, croutons, and breadsticks.

Classic Cookie operates a modern 50,000 ft2 commercial bakery in Sevierville, which recently underwent expansion to support its growth initiatives.

Furthermore, Legacy Bakehouse noted that this acquisition enriches its contract manufacturing and private-label product portfolio with diverse cookie and brownie production capabilities.

The Sevierville facility will serve as Legacy Bakehouse’s third production site, complementing its existing operations in Cudahy, Wisconsin, and the assets acquired from Angelic Bakehouse earlier in July.

Brian Behm, Principal at Benford Capital, remarked: “Classic Cookie is a strategic acquisition for our evolving baking platform. Its primary channels, including national retail, vending, contract manufacturing, private label, and fundraising, perfectly align with Legacy’s objectives.”

Benford Capital, based in Chicago, which acquired Legacy Bakehouse in 2023, has demonstrably invested in various companies including Turri’s Italian Foods, Brothers International Food, and Saco Foods.
