The LabelStream LS2000, an industrial-scale label printing solution, incorporates a new combination of Canon technologies. This innovative product marks Canon’s debut in the water-based inkjet label press market, capable of printing CMYK plus white on self-adhesive substrates such as paper and film. The LS2000 includes a new ink set specifically developed to comply with food safety standards, making it suitable for label converters serving various industries, including food and beverages, personal care, household goods, electronics, and customized product manufacturing.

Label production for items like food packaging and everyday products often requires fast delivery times and small batch production due to shorter product lifecycles. With printing speeds up to 40m/min, the LabelStream LS2000 is equipped to provide efficient results. Furthermore, this label press offers flexibility in handling a variety of substrates, ranging from coated to synthetic paper and film, even including lower-heat-resistant film. As a result, it opens up possibilities for diverse label applications.

One notable feature of the LS2000 is its ability to maintain the original look and feel of the printed substrates, even textured media, thanks to its thin and almost imperceptible ink layer. This ensures that labels retain their desired design aesthetic.

The LabelStream LS2000 is a five-color (CMYK plus white) inkjet label press, capable of printing at speeds up to 40m/min and accommodating a maximum printing width of 340mm. Its advanced printhead with a 2400 x 1200 dpi resolution includes an ink circulation mechanism, ensuring ink flows smoothly to the nozzles and minimizing nozzle failure due to clogging.

Jennifer Kolloczek, EMEA planning, marketing & innovation senior director, production print at Canon Europe, commented on the demand for digital printing technology in the label industry. She highlighted the challenges faced by converters, such as the increasing trend of shorter runs and the need for on-demand high-quality labels. The LabelStream LS2000 aims to address these challenges by offering reliable productivity, speed, versatility, and expected food safety compliance, enabling converters to diversify their label offerings.

The LabelStream LS2000 is a game-changing addition to Canon’s label press series, designed to meet the evolving demands of label converters in various industries. Its innovative features, such as the water-based inkjet technology, versatile substrate handling, and high printing speeds, make it a reliable and efficient solution for industrial-scale label printing.
