Transitioning to Sustainable Food and Drink Packaging with kp Infinity®

As the impending ban on Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) food containers approaches in the UK, Klöckner Pentaplast (kp) is proud to announce the completion of the conversion of its St. Helens site to fully recyclable Expanded Polypropylene (EPP).

The new kp Infinity® range offers a sustainable solution for foodservice businesses, providing a seamless and like-for-like switch from EPS. Fully recyclable and marked with consumer ‘Recycle Me’ messaging, kp Infinity® is exempt from the impending ban, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Through extensive testing and trialling with RECOUP, the UK’s leading authority on plastics waste and resource management, kp Infinity® has proven its compatibility with today’s recycling infrastructure.

Sally Molyneux, Sales Director Trays & Flexibles – UK, Ireland, Benelux, and Australia at kp, affirms, “From 1 October, we are ceasing the supply of EPS trays in compliance with the impending ban. However, our customers need not worry. kp Infinity® provides the convenience of EPS without the recycling drawbacks. The packs are easier to recover in one piece and are less prone to splintering or fracturing, making them a fantastic showcase of material and design innovation for the foodservice industry.”

kp understands the importance of sustainable design without compromising performance. With kp Infinity®, food can be kept piping hot while still being comfortable for consumers to handle.

“We take pride in contributing to the sustainable packaging economy, and with kp Infinity®, we are surpassing the EPS ban and ensuring our customers are well-prepared,” adds Molyneux.
