Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, a global leader in sustainable chemical production, reaffirmed its position in shaping the future of the petrochemical industry at the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) 2025, held this year in Bangkok.

With the theme “Ensuring a Transformed World Prosperity – Action for Planet with Innovation and Collaboration,” APIC 2025 highlighted the petrochemical sector’s crucial role in fostering growth and advancing sustainable initiatives. This aligns perfectly with Indorama Ventures’ commitment to deliver essential chemistry through innovative, sustainable solutions in food and drink packaging as well as food and drink sustainable packaging.

Indorama Ventures participated alongside approximately 1,500 delegates from around the world, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and industry collaboration. Prior to the conference, the company’s Combined PET segment, recognized as the leading producer and recycler of PET bottles globally, hosted a reception for about 200 customers, suppliers, and partners. The reception featured a traditional Thai puppet performance and an engaging VR experience showcasing Indorama Ventures’ 360 Gallery.

Group CEO Mr. Aloke Lohia emphasized the importance of cross-value-chain collaboration for fostering long-term resilience in a rapidly changing global environment: “Our global diversity gives us the agility to meet change with confidence and to remain dependable no matter the environment. It is this quiet strength that makes us a partner you can rely on, for today and for what lies ahead. The future of our industry won’t be written in isolation. It will be shaped, once again, through collaboration. Through shared purpose. Through indispensable chemistry.”

Driving Sustainability Through Innovation

During the APIC 2025 panel discussion “Reimagining Petrochemicals,” Dr. Anthony Watanabe, Chief Sustainability Officer, advocated for a shift beyond incremental changes. He emphasized the need for systemic innovation, enhanced sourcing transparency, and the acceleration of climate-positive technologies to truly revolutionize the industry.

Supporting this vision, Dr. Tinnabhop Santadkha, Sustainability Innovation Specialist, presented a keynote on “Indorama Ventures’ Alternative Feedstocks.” He outlined the company’s commitment to investing in bio-based materials, chemical recycling, and alternative feedstocks. These initiatives aim to significantly reduce emissions and facilitate a circular economy at scale.

Scaling Impact at the Grassroots Level

During a session on circular economy ecosystems, Ms. Naweensuda Krabuanrat, Head of Global CSR, Global Recycling Education and Thai Advocacy, highlighted the company’s efforts in establishing community-based PET collection systems. She underscored the importance of integrating education through public-private collaboration. Her presentation emphasized that achieving systems-level change requires both the necessary infrastructure and a shift in consumer behavior. The company’s systems for recycling and its public-private partnerships are pivotal for creating a more sustainable value chain.
