Amcor (NYSE: AMCR, ASX: AMC), a prominent global player in the development of sustainable packaging solutions, is providing its innovative 28mm two-piece tamper-evident closure tailored for glass bottles to the renowned Belgian mineral water brand Ginstberg.

The Amcor 28mm Flat Cap for Glass Tamper Evident boasts a patented lightweight structure designed to ensure both effective product safety and ease of use for consumers. Suitable for a variety of beverages, including still and sparkling varieties, it accommodates carbonization levels of up to 4.3 vol and comes with ISCC+ certification, ensuring traceability of recycled materials.

Nestled at the edge of the Flemish Ardennes, Ginstberg is officially categorized as natural mineral water, directly bottled at the source without any additives or processing, guaranteeing a 100% pure product. The unique spring location also results in water that is free from nitrates and low in salt, making quality packaging essential for communicating these attributes.

“Consumer experience of our brand begins with the packaging, so it is essential that the closure is durable and reliable and easy to open and reclose, as well as offering the reassurance of tamper evidence,” stated Evi Van De Velde, COO of Ginstberg. “The Amcor closure has both the necessary technical and aesthetic attributes.”

The 28mm Flat Cap for Glass Tamper Evident is part of Amcor’s broad portfolio of closures, designed to cater to the specific needs of both still and sparkling beverages as well as various sizes of glass and plastic bottles.

As Europe increasingly implements Deposit Return Schemes (DRS) and tightens regulations concerning refillable and reusable packaging, closures that function optimally with refillable bottles are becoming a crucial investment for water brands. Amcor’s offerings, including the 28mm Flat Cap for Glass TE, 28mm PolyVent®, and 28mm PolyGuard®, have already shown effectiveness in reusable bottle systems, presenting brands with sustainable solutions that align with circular economy principles and regulatory standards.

“The closure is the consumer’s first interaction with the packaging and therefore has a very important role to play in delivering consumer acceptance and brand loyalty,” remarked Uli Kolbert, product line manager for beverage closures & home care triggers at Amcor Global Rigid Packaging Solutions. “Our refillable-ready range is designed to meet the needs of both glass and PET bottles, ensuring brands can adapt to evolving regulations across Europe.”
