Cox & Co has successfully developed a paper flow wrap to replace its compostable plastic packaging after 18 months of dedicated work. Collaborating with a paper manufacturer in Sweden and adjusting its flow wrap machine, the brand has introduced the first 100% paper flow wrapped chocolate bar. This innovative solution offers a 12-month minimum shelf life, marking a significant step in reducing chocolate packaging waste that often ends up in landfills.
Founder Gavin Cox emphasizes the importance of sustainability in today’s market, stating, “Consumers are actively seeking brands that prioritize sustainability and offer easily recyclable products. Our new packaging, made entirely of paper, provides a sustainable alternative without the use of plastic.”
Through trial and optimization, Cox & Co has successfully implemented this new packaging solution, enabling a 35% reduction in packaging costs. This cost efficiency helps the brand offset rising cocoa prices while maintaining competitive pricing for its range of chocolate bars, including Mint Crunch, Miso Caramel, and Bee Pollen & Honey.
With a focus on ethical production and indulgence, Cox & Co aims to offer a chocolate range that resonates with conscientious consumers. The introduction of paper packaging aligns with the brand’s commitment to ethical practices.
The brand plans to expand the use of this sustainable packaging across its entire product line, paving the way for reduced environmental impact and cost savings. By balancing ethics and affordability, Cox & Co sets a new standard in the food and drink packaging industry.
