With EU PFAS restrictions now applying and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) accelerating the move towards circular packaging systems, Coveris will present its latest recyclable and PFAS-free pet food packaging solutions at PATS UK 2026.
The packaging sector is entering a major period of regulatory change. From 12th August 2026, strict EU limits on PFAS in food-contact packaging will apply. At the same time, the PPWR is encouraging the development of packaging that supports recycling and greater circularity wherever suitable collection systems are available. For UK pet food manufacturers and brands supplying European markets, these food and drink regulations are already affecting material selection, packaging design and supply-chain planning.
Coveris will showcase its newest recycle-ready packaging technologies for pet food at PATS UK 2026, held at Birmingham’s NEC from 27th-29th September. At stand A35, visitors can discuss packaging formats designed to deliver product protection, efficient processing and improved recyclability.
Packaging formats designed for varied pet food applications
Coveris already supplies PFAS-free premade bags for pet food and continues to extend this capability across its wider portfolio. By embedding PFAS-free design into its packaging development programme, the company is helping customers respond to changing legislation while preserving the performance required for demanding food processing and filling environments.
One of the featured solutions will be MonoFlexFibre Max, a paper-based pack structure developed for recycling through the established paper stream. The format combines a natural paper appearance and tactile feel with selectable barrier performance, dependable sealing and high-quality graphics. It supports rotogravure, flexographic and digital printing, and can be configured for a variety of pack sizes and weights in food-contact applications.
Coveris will also present MonoFlexBE with a metallic inner layer. This recycle-ready, high-barrier monomaterial structure is engineered to help protect the product while providing a premium metallic appearance. As a result, brands can strengthen shelf presence and differentiation without moving away from recyclable packaging principles.
