The team at Colpac has enhanced its traditional platters by prioritizing speed and visibility in construction. Understanding the need for value in food and drink packaging, Colpac is thrilled to unveil its light platters, designed to facilitate cost reduction.
This range includes four base sizes, with sleeves and lids that interchange seamlessly. Additionally, the smaller light platter bases serve as cost-effective ¼ and ½ inserts for the large bases in both ranges.
The catering trays are designed to fit standard sandwich configurations. The large tray holds 12 sandwich rounds (48 quarters), the small accommodates 6 sandwich rounds (24 quarters), and the extra small fits 3 sandwich rounds (12 quarters).
A medium-size option is also available, perfect for customers aiming to package artisan bread sandwiches, pastries, or samosas for workplace lunches.

Colpac’s new platter offerings fit standard catering sandwich configurations with ease.
Moreover, these platters provide a versatile packaging solution for occasions like birthday celebrations, baby showers, or home catering events, accommodating items such as cupcakes, pastries, sweet treats, or fruit displays.
Enhanced Operational Efficiency
Catering businesses often face constraints in time and space when constructing platters for daily service. Colpac’s redesigned platters facilitate quicker assembly, thereby streamlining back-of-house operations. This improvement is particularly evident in the new sleeve design, which features a smooth, self-erecting crash-lock at one end and a simple tuck closure at the other.
The traditional range maintains pop-out handles, ensuring hygienic insertion and removal of platter bases from their sleeves. In contrast, the new light range boasts a lift-off lid that easily reveals the food contents. Additionally, the platters can be easily labeled for tamper evidence, allergen and ingredient information, or marketing messages, addressing both hygiene requirements and brand visibility.
Material Sourcing and Sustainability
In alignment with Colpac’s commitment to food and drink sustainability and new packaging regulations including Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR), the latest platter configurations utilize less material. The light options minimize paperboard usage further, contributing to sustainable packaging solutions.
Furthermore, all new platter products are recyclable and fall within the ‘green’ category in the Recycling Assessment Methodology. As part of the ‘paper and board’ materials for pEPR, these platters (after removing the window) also incur lower pEPR fees.
