BW Packaging, Barry-Wehmiller’s packaging machinery division, has introduced the Hayssen X650, a bottom-fed flow wrapper with extended dwell sealing. The system is engineered to produce dependable hermetic seals, support efficient sanitation and preserve product integrity in demanding manufacturing environments.

The X650 was developed particularly for cheese producers, while also supporting other hygiene-critical applications such as individually quick-frozen foods and fresh produce. The new machine expands Hayssen’s flow-wrapping range alongside the Hayssen X850 and reflects broader food manufacturing trends focused on automation, hygiene and consistent production performance.

“Manufacturers operating in high-hygiene environments face increasing pressure to maintain product quality while improving operational efficiency,” said Meeghan Sheppard, Product Manager, Flow Wrapping, BW Packaging. “The Hayssen X650 combines dependable hermetic sealing, hygienic machine design and intelligent automation in a solution that’s easy to operate and built to support consistent production performance.”

The machine incorporates Jam Detection Technology to help protect products and maintain seal quality. When a product is incorrectly positioned, the sealing jaws identify the issue and open before making contact. This feature helps reduce product damage and limit contamination around the seal area. When equipped with the optional reject system, the X650 can produce a double-length package and identify it for removal farther along the line.

Designed for intensive food processing operations, the X650 combines long-dwell sealing with a fully washdown-capable construction and user-friendly controls. It can operate at speeds of up to 150 packs per minute. RFID-based operator login, recipe-controlled settings and the OpView™ interface further simplify changeovers, diagnostics and routine troubleshooting.

As food and beverage industry trends continue to emphasize food processing technology, food and drink sustainability and stronger food and drink regulations, equipment manufacturers are developing solutions that improve sanitation and production efficiency without compromising product protection. The X650 also aligns with evolving food and drink packaging requirements and the operational priorities shaping food distribution trends, food and drink marketing and food and drink consumer trends.
