BIXOLON Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of BIXOLON, the leading global manufacturer of advanced receipt, label, and mobile printers, has announced its partnership with Polish IT and digital services firm iMedia Sp. z o.o. and system integration partner HANT. This collaboration supports the rollout of GreenBottle reverse vending machines (RVMs) throughout Poland, enhancing initiatives for food and drink sustainable packaging.

GreenBottle, developed by iMedia, introduces a new generation of smart kiosks that collect PET plastic bottles and cans in exchange for instant digital rewards. As Poland seeks to bolster recycling rates and improve its circular economy, these machines align with the government’s forthcoming recycling initiative set to launch in October 2025.

The machines are designed for 24/7 operation in public spaces, capable of withstanding various weather conditions, high user traffic, and the risk of vandalism, all while minimizing maintenance needs. To satisfy these operational demands and ensure seamless integration with proprietary software, iMedia collaborated closely with HANT to select BIXOLON’s BK3-21 thermal kiosk receipt printer.

This compact, efficient printer delivers receipts—including container details and discount codes—in under two seconds. Consequently, it enhances the user experience while reducing downtime, maintenance, and associated costs. HANT’s expertise was vital in fine-tuning the printers to meet both operational and environmental standards, including conducting staging tests before deployment. Such collaboration allowed for a rapid rollout of new machines across Poland without requiring redesigns in hardware or software.

Rafal Milko, IT Specialist at iMedia Sp. z o.o., stated: “The new solution ensures reliable receipt printing and improved user experience for those interacting with the GreenBottle machines. In the context of the project’s dynamic growth, the implementation of BIXOLON’s printers enables easy scalability and rapid deployment of new devices without redesigning the entire system.”

Paul Kim, Managing Director of BIXOLON Europe GmbH, remarked: “We are delighted to be partnering with iMedia and HANT on the GreenBottle project, which exemplifies how technology drives real change. Recycling is a pivotal concern across Europe, particularly in Poland, and initiatives like this facilitate participation while aiding cities in achieving their sustainability targets.”

He further explained: “It’s exciting to see our printers contributing to that journey, ensuring every transaction is simple, seamless, and reliable for the user. Projects like GreenBottle illustrate how the right technology can profoundly influence everyday behavior, and we look forward to witnessing these systems expand across Poland, ultimately making recycling accessible and straightforward for everyone.”
