Avient Corporation, a leader in materials solutions innovation, is excited to announce the launch of the first grade in its new ColorMatrix™ Amosorb™ Oxyloop™ portfolio of oxygen scavengers: ColorMatrix™ Amosorb™ Oxyloop-1. This advanced oxygen scavenging additive is specifically designed to improve the recycling capabilities of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) packaging, offering a reliable solution for brands focused on extending product shelf life, achieving sustainability targets, and fostering a more circular economy.

Importantly, Avient’s Oxyloop-1 grade has received the endorsement of the European Platform for Bottle Packaging (EPBP) for bottle-to-bottle recyclability within the colored recycled stream. This recognition signifies that Oxyloop-1 meets rigorous industry standards for recyclability. Moreover, this non-nylon-based product is compatible with recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), making it an ideal choice for brands aiming to increase the use of recycled materials in their food and drink packaging.

Notably, ColorMatrix Amosorb Oxyloop-1 delivers exceptional oxygen scavenging performance, even when utilizing up to 100% rPET content. As a result, it ensures that packaging applications for juices, vitamin drinks, ready-to-drink (RTD) teas, and select dairy products retain their freshness and prolong shelf life.

This innovative additive also provides remarkable bottle clarity and can be used in both monolayer and multi-layer bottle structures, as well as in transparent applications requiring a high-quality solution to enhance recyclability. Furthermore, the absence of nylon minimizes yellowing within the transparent recycling stream, thereby preserving the visual appeal of transparent bottle applications.

“We are thrilled to introduce the ColorMatrix Amosorb Oxyloop-1 grade to the market,” said Dr. Antonello Decortes, Global Product Platform Manager at Avient Corporation. “This new Oxyloop technology represents a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and circularity. By enhancing the recyclability of PET packaging, we are helping brand owners and converters achieve their sustainability goals and reduce their environmental impact.”

Additionally, the ColorMatrix Amosorb Oxyloop-1 additive complies with direct food contact regulatory requirements in major markets, ensuring peace of mind for both manufacturers and consumers.
