Cherrytree Bakery hires new financial director as part of its recent expansion. John Meadowcroft, who has been with the company for nearly five years, has been promoted from financial controller to financial director. The appointment follows Cherrytree’s acquisition of a 12,000 sq ft building near its Burnley headquarters in Lancashire, which will enable the company to expand its tray-back offer, meet additional demand and enter new markets. Mr Meadowcroft said he is excited to take on the newly-created role at an exciting time in the development of Cherrytree, and will focus on strategic planning, with environmental issues such as carbon emissions among his priorities.
Meanwhile, FoodCloud, a non-profit that specialises in creating technology for food redistribution, has strengthened its leadership team to support the accelerated rollout of its food waste solutions across the UK and Europe. Sheena Forde, previously a senior executive with several leading British supermarkets, has been appointed partnerships director, while Angela Ruttledge comes on board as public affairs and stakeholder manager. FoodCloud CEO Iseult Ward said these appointments will aid growth and help retailers and food service companies make a positive impact on society and the environment.
Finally, Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers has appointed a new executive manager, Scott Walker. The role was previously held by Martin Morgan, who passed away earlier this year. Mr Walker, former chief executive of NFU Scotland, said he is excited to take on a similar advocacy role on behalf of the red meat sector, and will work with the Scottish Association of Meat Wholesalers to keep driving the industry’s progress. Ian Bentley, SAMW president, praised the appointment, describing Mr Walker as a person of vast experience who will help the organisation continue its work.
