Dino Labbate, an industry veteran with extensive experience in food and beverage packaging, joins AG Barr from Britvic—recently acquired by drinks giant Carlsberg. During his seven-year tenure at Britvic, he most recently served as the GB Commercial Director for hospitality.

Before his time at Britvic, Labbate held key roles at Kraft Heinz, Burton’s Biscuits, and Northern Foods, solidifying his expertise in the food and beverage sector.

Euan Sutherland, AG Barr’s Group Chief Executive, stated: “This is a new role for the business and reflects our growth ambitions. Dino’s FMCG experience, enthusiasm, and commitment have made an instant impact on the company.

‘Pivotal role’

“He understands soft drinks and possesses considerable knowledge across grocery, wholesale, out of home, and on-premise sectors. This will play a pivotal role in developing all brands within the business.”

Sutherland, who joined AG Barr in May 2024 after taking over from previous CEO Roger White—who led the drinks manufacturer for over two decades—continues to steer the company toward growth.

The announcement of White’s transition coincided with AG Barr’s trading update for the 52 weeks ended 28 January 2024, revealing a 13.8% increase in adjusted profit before tax.

Commenting on his new role, Labbate remarked: “AG Barr has a rich history of success, combined with the company’s bold growth ambitions. This presents an exciting opportunity for me to help guide our teams through the next chapter of AG Barr’s journey.

‘Set up to win’

“Our portfolio holds immense potential, packed with incredible brands. I eagerly anticipate supporting the business as we prepare to succeed with current and future consumers.”

Labbate’s appointment follows former AG Barr Commercial Director Jonathan Kemp joining Radnor Hill’s board of directors. Kemp spent 21 years with AG Barr, overseeing the commercial growth of the business and the development of brands such as IRN-BRU and Rubicon.

Meanwhile, cold-pressed juice firm Daily Dose announced a duo of appointments to its senior leadership team. Phil Hurst and Ben Weeks will join the manufacturer as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer, respectively.
