Twinings Unveils New Packaging and String-and-Tag Teabags in Brand Refresh - product refresh, packaging, rebranding, string-and-tag teabags, Tea, teabags, Twinings Food and Beverage Business

Twinings is introducing a premium redesign for its Green Tea and Infusions range, with individually wrapped string-and-tag teabags and smaller cartons designed to make storage simpler while adding a more refined touch to everyday tea occasions.

The refreshed packs will begin appearing in UK supermarkets, retailers, and online stores this month. The launch represents the latest stage of Twinings’ packaging innovation programme, which focuses on convenience, sustainability, accessibility, and the overall consumer experience. It also reflects wider food and beverage industry trends, including the growing importance of food and drink packaging in food and drink marketing.

Practical design with sustainability in mind

The tea blends, net weight, and number of teabags remain unchanged. However, consumer insight and in-home trials have shaped several practical improvements to the pack format:

More efficient cartons: Twinings has replaced the previous outer format with a slimmer, space-efficient box that stores more easily in kitchen cupboards without compromising the quantity inside.

Individual string-and-tag teabags: Each home-compostable teabag includes a clearly designed tag featuring considered messaging intended to enhance moments of relaxation and daily routine.

Simpler end-of-life disposal: The string and tag, along with the remaining teabag components, are suitable for home composting or council food-waste collections. The outer carton can be placed in household recycling. These changes support evolving food and drink sustainability priorities and align with relevant food and drink regulations.

Improved accessibility: The redesign contributes to Twinings’ wider food and drink industry innovation programme, which includes Accessible QR (AQR) codes. These codes are intended to make product information easier to use for people with visual impairments. The approach also demonstrates how food manufacturing trends, food processing technology, and food distribution trends increasingly support more inclusive product development.

“We know enjoying a cup of tea is about more than what’s in the cup – it’s about the whole experience,” says Gill Close, marketing director for Twinings UK and Ireland. “Our more convenient, premium string and tag teabags make it even easier to enjoy a moment with Twinings, bringing a simple sense of ritual to every cup, while protecting the same blends, quality and taste people know and love.”

The update responds to changing food and drink consumer trends, as shoppers increasingly look for products that combine quality, convenience, responsible disposal, and thoughtful design.
