Tootoomoo Brings Restaurant-Quality Meals to Lunch

Following the successful introduction of its pan-Asian food-to-go range at Sainsbury’s, Tootoomoo is extending its retail offer with the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box. The new product will launch across Sainsbury’s stores nationwide in November 2026.

The launch strengthens Tootoomoo’s growing presence in the UK grocery market as demand increases for premium, authentic pan-Asian lunch options. It also builds on the brand’s 14-year heritage in North London, where its restaurants and takeaway sites in Islington, Crouch End, and Whetstone have earned a reputation for bold, flavour-led cooking.

Created for time-pressed food-to-go shoppers, the Japanese-inspired bento combines several popular dishes in one complete meal. It includes four Chicken Teriyaki California Rolls, filled with tender chicken coated in a sweet and savoury teriyaki glaze and wrapped in nori. Hosumaki rolls with creamy avocado and crisp cucumber sit alongside Crispy Katsu Chicken Bites, edamame beans, and a portion of Signature Teriyaki Mayonnaise.

The launch reflects wider food and drink consumer trends, including rising interest in convenient meals that deliver restaurant-style quality and distinctive international flavours. It also aligns with broader food and beverage industry trends, food manufacturing trends, and food processing technology developments that are helping brands bring more varied, premium products to the retail food-to-go market.

Tootoomoo’s latest product follows the strong performance of its Miso Chicken Sando, which won the New Sandwich Award in the cold category at The Sammies in May 2026. The award underlines the brand’s growing momentum and demonstrates the appetite among UK shoppers for high-quality pan-Asian innovation in the convenience and grocery sectors.

The new bento also enters a market shaped by evolving food distribution trends, food and drink sustainability priorities, and changing expectations around food and drink packaging. Alongside food and drink regulations, these factors continue to influence how retailers and suppliers develop, present, and market convenient meal solutions. Tootoomoo’s expansion further illustrates the role of food and drink industry innovation and targeted food and drink marketing in bringing global flavours to mainstream shoppers.

Philip McGuinness, CEO and founder of Tootoomoo, commented: “Since making our grocery food-to-go debut with Sainsbury’s, expanding our range with the Teriyaki Bento Box is a natural next step for us. It combines popular classics like California rolls and crispy katsu into a single box – ideal for commuter lunches and on-the-go snacking. We’re excited to continue growing our partnership with Sainsbury’s and delivering authentic pan-Asian dishes to even more customers nationwide.”

The Tootoomoo Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box will retail at £5.50 and will be available from 2nd November 2026 in the premium Meal Deal range at Sainsbury’s stores nationwide.
