Tony’s Chocolonely has unveiled its new product line, Filled, which marks the introduction of its first series of layered, multi-texture chocolate bars.
This innovative collection is crafted to cater to an increasing demand among consumers for high-sensory and indulgent treats that offer a delightful escape from the pressures of modern life. Set to launch on April 5th, the lineup includes three distinct flavors: Gooey Caramel Sea Salt, Creamy Hazelnut Praline, and Creamy Milk Chocolate Ganache. Each bar will retail at £3.85 and can be found exclusively at Waitrose, Oxfam, and online platforms.
This launch is a calculated move in response to evolving market preferences. Recent data from the National Confectioners Association indicates that nearly 47% of consumers now favor chocolates that include elements such as caramel and nuts, while 65% consider chocolate an affordable luxury for moments of enjoyment.
Tony’s is embracing the trend for sensory experiences by expanding beyond its traditional solid chocolate bars. The new offerings maintain the brand’s characteristic uneven shape but introduce soft, gooey, or crunchy layers. The company describes these bars as the ideal option “when life is full, and you need something even fuller.”
The three variants include:
– Gooey Caramel Sea Salt Crunch: A milk chocolate bar filled with liquid caramel, crunchy caramel bits, and a touch of sea salt.
– Creamy Hazelnut Praline: A blend of smooth praline along with roasted hazelnut pieces, delivering a delightful creamy-crunchy texture.
– Creamy Milk Chocolate Ganache: A richly indulgent selection featuring a smooth ganache filling.
While the focus of this new range is on premium indulgence, Tony’s continues to use its product releases to raise awareness about challenges in the cocoa sector. With 60% of the globe’s cocoa being produced in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire—areas now grappling with climate challenges and crop diseases—Tony’s emphasizes that responsible sourcing is vital for sustainable practices in the industry.
Cocoa for the Filled range is procured through Tony’s Open Chain, which follows five sourcing principles aimed at ensuring farmers receive a fair income. This approach effectively tackles poverty while also addressing issues related to child labor and deforestation.
“Responsibly sourcing cocoa isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s the smartest way to protect the future of chocolate,” the company emphasized. “Better farming practices mean better cocoa beans, and better beans mean better tasting chocolate.”
