Sick has expanded its next-generation Ruler3000 family to enhance the speed and precision of its top-flight 3D streaming cameras, specifically for high-quality, high-resolution 3D inspection and measurement tasks. This new range includes three compact cameras, as well as an additional mid-range variant, covering fields of view between 26.6mm and 1680mm, with heights reaching an impressive 0.8 micrometers.

The Ruler3000 cameras set a new standard by combining Sick’s renowned image quality with the convenience of a built-in laser, pre-selected optics, and factory-calibrated fields of view. Since its launch two years ago, the Ruler3000 has been widely adopted by vision specialists worldwide, thanks to its unparalleled processing speed and ease of integration. It has successfully addressed a diverse range of challenging 3D applications, such as inspecting railway tracks, windmill blades, tire walls, measuring and portioning meat products, and volume dimensioning of legal-for-trade freight.

The introduction of the Ruler3002, 3004, and 3010 cameras extends the high performance of the Ruler3000 to guaranteed fields of view down to 26.6mm. Furthermore, the inclusion of a high-powered blue 3R laser in the three smaller cameras allows for rapid exposure times, enabling the capturing of even the tiniest three-dimensional details at high production speeds.

These Ruler3000 cameras excel at capturing 3D images, reflectance, and scattered light measurements in a single scan, achieving impressive speeds of up to 46KHz. This capability enables the cameras to differentiate between various material properties, such as in the portioning of meat products. The cameras’ exceptional light sensitivity and high dynamic range (HDR) optimize inspections regardless of contrast or widely differing light remissions within a single scene.

Designed with more compact dimensions than other models in the Ruler3000 family, the new cameras are ideal for integration into tight machine spaces. For example, the Ruler3004 measures 129.5 x 60.3mm x 100mm (L x W x H). All Ruler3000 cameras are powered by Sick’s highly-sensitive CMOS sensor and innovative ROCC (Rapid On-Chip Calculation) technology. They accurately capture the true 3D shape of an object, regardless of its contrast or color, processing up to 15.4Gp/s, enabling a remarkable 7000 full-frame 3D profiles per second.

Machine integration is simplified by Sick’s user-friendly Stream Setup interface, making the implementation of these advanced 3D cameras effortless for businesses in the food manufacturing industry.
