Israeli cultivated meat and 3D printing leader Steakholder Foods has announced the signing of a multi-million-dollar agreement with an accredited GCC-based governmental body (Gulf Cooperation Council) to establish the first-of-its-kind large-scale production facility in the Persian Gulf region.

Steakholder Foods has been granted a patent for advanced print heads designed for 3D bioprinting.

Hailed as a significant step forward in the fabrication of edible biostructures, Steakholder Foods, the Israeli cultivated meat and 3D printing leader, is making strides in creating intricate biological structures, including edible biostructures that replicate the properties and functionalities of native tissues.

Although bioprinting has traditionally faced challenges in achieving specificity and efficiency at scale with hydrogels containing biological materials, Steakholder Foods’ print heads provide a dedicated solution for 3D bioprinting. Through their drop-on-demand technology, these print heads allow for precise deposition of cell patterns, overcoming these obstacles and enhancing the fabrication of edible biostructures.

According to Dan Kozlovski, the CTO of Steakholder Foods, their continuous research and development efforts, coupled with their expertise in 3D bioprinting technology, allow them to focus on creating end products that closely mimic the taste, texture, and appearance of traditional meat and seafood. Kozlovski added that through these advancements, Steakholder Foods is well-positioned to serve as a backbone supplier to B2B meat and seafood manufacturers and cultivated meat producers, meeting consumer expectations.

Steakholder Foods recently announced a collaboration with an accredited Gulf Cooperation Council-based (GCC) governmental body to establish a first-of-its-kind large-scale production facility in the Persian Gulf region. This collaboration aims to scale up Steakholder Foods’ 3D-printed food technology in territories within the GCC, which represents the economic union between Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. By leveraging Steakholder Foods’ expertise in providing mature ready-to-cook (RTC) 3D printer technologies and customised bio-inks, tailored to produce a wide range of cultivated fish, meat, and vegetable-based products, this partnership will contribute to the advancement of sustainable food manufacturing.
