Planted, the Swiss FoodTech pioneer known for its clean label plant-based meats, is unveiling its latest innovation – the planted.steak. This new fermented beef fillet steak is crafted entirely from plants, marking a significant milestone for the company.

The creation of the planted.steak is part of Planted’s ‘whole-muscle platform’, showcasing their commitment to producing high-quality, sustainable plant-based meats. The launch of this product also coincides with the expansion of their production capabilities, including a new fermentation facility in Kemptthal, Switzerland.

Thanks to the fermentation process, the planted.steak offers a rich umami flavor, juiciness, and tenderness. Made from natural ingredients such as soya protein, rapeseed oil, bean and rice flours, and a blend of microbial cultures, this steak sets a new standard for plant-based meats.

Pascal Bieri, co-founder of Planted, expressed excitement about the planted.steak, highlighting its unique taste, texture, and culinary experience. With input from over 50 gastronomy professionals, they have created a product that surpasses expectations in both quality and sustainability.

This innovative steak is not only flavorful but also packed with protein, fiber, vitamin B12, and iron, making it a healthy choice for discerning consumers. Additionally, the production process of the planted.steak generates significantly fewer CO2 emissions and requires less water compared to traditional beef production methods.

Planted’s dedication to clean label and healthy protein sources has led them to explore new technologies such as fermentation. This approach allows them to deliver products that are not only nutritious but also delicious, paving the way for alternative protein options.

Recognizing the potential of their whole-muscle platform, Planted has received a grant from the Swiss Innovation Agency Innosuisse to accelerate their development efforts. With plans for further product launches and expansion into new markets, the company is poised for growth and innovation.

In line with their commitment to sustainability, Planted has invested in a new production site with eco-friendly features. The building utilizes an energy system that reduces CO2 emissions and promotes environmental stewardship, reflecting the company’s values and dedication to green technology.
