Nick Allen is set to take over as CEO from Mark Williams, who will step down after a remarkable 25 years in the role. Following this transition, Williams will resume his position as chairman.

Upon announcing Allen’s appointment, Mark Williams remarked: “We are delighted that Nick is coming on board at the BEIC. His extensive background and strategic vision will be invaluable as we continue to represent the best interests of our members and ensure the British Lion Code remains the envy of egg producers around the world. We are confident that under his leadership, the British Egg Industry Council will go from strength to strength.

Prior Experience

Before joining the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC), Allen served as CEO of Berry Gardens. He initially held the positions of finance and operations director and finance director, accumulating over a decade of experience with the berry-growing enterprise.

Notably, Allen was instrumental in overseeing Berry Gardens’ sale to Driscoll’s in October 2022. Following this transition, he managed the integration process as the UK general manager.

Allen’s qualifications include a strong track record in strategic planning and exceptional leadership skills, along with a robust understanding of stakeholder engagement in both the farming and commercial sectors.

Industry Commitment

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Allen stated: “I’m very excited to take on this new role. It is clear to me that the industry is committed to its world-leading farm assurance scheme. I hope that my passion for UK food and farming together with my expertise in the sector can bring a new perspective and futureproof British Lion eggs for the industry and its customers.
