British chocolatier Hames Chocolates has revealed its latest venture into the confectionery market with the introduction of a new Giant Buttons range, aimed at enhancing impulse purchases while catering to the growing appetite for refined everyday treats.
Launched on 1 April, this new offering is available across convenience stores, wholesale outlets, and Amazon, featuring two varieties: Milk Chocolate and Milk Chocolate Caramel. Each option is packaged in 100g resealable stand-up pouches, with a suggested retail price of £3.99, strategically targeting the attractive sharing pouch segment with a premium yet approachable appeal.
The creation of the Giant Buttons format stems from consumer insights highlighting a preference for indulgent, sensory experiences. These larger buttons are crafted to provide a superior melt and mouthfeel compared to traditional sweets. The Caramel version introduces an element of sophistication, boasting a silky milk chocolate exterior that encases a luscious caramel core, creating a delightful textural contrast.
“As we look ahead to 2026, we’re seeing clear momentum behind nostalgic flavours such as milk chocolate and caramel, alongside growing demand for texture-led indulgence and premium formats,” remarked Carol Oldbury, a director at Hames Chocolates.
To ensure the product “works hard for retailers,” Hames has implemented vibrant colour blocking and distinct flavour indicators to enhance visibility in high-traffic impulse display areas. The resealable design is intended to cater to sharing moments and promote repeat buys.
Oldbury emphasized that the range provides a “more considered everyday indulgence” for consumers increasingly in search of high-quality confectionery aligned with ethical principles. “Our Giant Buttons range combines familiar, high-performing flavours with enhanced melt and texture contrast, strong shelf appeal and responsible sourcing credentials,” she noted.
Produced at the company’s Lincolnshire facility, the new line also aligns with the growing retail emphasis on reducing environmental impact. The chocolate is made with Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa, and the pouches are fully recyclable, supporting the sustainability efforts of both retailers and their customers.
With the trend of snackification reshaping purchasing behavior, Hames Chocolates’ foray into the premium pouch market positions the brand to seize additional sales from consumers who are becoming increasingly discerning about their sweet choices.
