Dawn Meats, the Waterford-based premium meat processor, is pleased with the decision made by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) to approve its acquisition of Kildare Chilling Company. The company has announced plans to invest €10 million in the newly acquired facility as part of its commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and implementing improved sustainability measures in processing.
Additionally, Dawn Meats aims to expand Kildare Chilling’s customer base by supplying its products to Dawn Meats’ prominent clients, including leading retail, food service, and manufacturing businesses.
The CCPC conducted a thorough two-phase investigation process, beginning in February of this year, which allowed for third parties to provide feedback and engage with the commission. The acquisition was deemed suitable due to a minimal overlap of customers and suppliers between Kildare Chilling and Dawn Meats.
